Why People Think McDonald's Might Release A Buddy The Elf Meal Deal

What would a Buddy the Elf meal at McDonald's even be? Fans of the movie Elf, starring Will Ferrell as Buddy, surely know the elves' four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup (via Delish). When McDonald's came out with celebrity meals earlier this year, it relied on its usual burgers and fries: a Quarter Pounder for the Travis Scott meal in September, and a Big Mac in the J Balvin meal in October. But does McDonald's really want to make a huge investment in candy canes?

It's wise to be extremely skeptical when reading a report in Distractify about a TikTok user claiming to be a McDonald's manager and announcing the next big celebrity meal. TikToker @simplyfrederico, who calls himself "The McDonald's Guy" on the social media platform, posted a video on November 30 to make an announcement. "December's coming up, Christmas is coming up, and our next celebrity meals are Christmas based — and can you guess who the celebrity is?"

He builds up the suspense: "This is like a great Christmas movie. I don't know if you guys have seen it, but — Elf, you know, Elf?? Our next celebrity meal is Buddy the Elf!"

A Buddy the Elf meal? McDonald's doesn't have spaghetti!

Maybe we can't entirely rule out a McDonald's Buddy the Elf meal. Two years ago around Christmas, a restaurant in Chicago called Miss Ricky's offered its version of Buddy's famous breakfast: a plate of spaghetti with all kinds of sweet stuff, including strawberry and raspberry sauces, marshmallows, Pop Tarts, M&Ms, and Oreos (via Food & Wine). The problem is, McDonald's isn't equipped to boil all the spaghetti it would need. Maybe the fast-food chain could get creative with what's already on its menu and combine something like hotcakes and syrup with apple pie and a McFlurry? Maybe, except McDonald's ice cream machines are always broken.

We don't see the Buddy the Elf meal happening, to be honest. "The McDonald's Guy" was probably just chasing TikTok clout. His video had been viewed 1 million times after just two days. Besides, if McDonald's were to do a Christmas promotion, they would need to get on that soon. There's barely 20 shopping days left until the holiday.

In the comments, @simplyfrederico pushes his luck, claiming two celebrity meals are making an appearance at McDonald's this holiday season. And he clarifies in the comments that his first reveal was very specifically Buddy the Elf and not Will Ferrell. If this viral TikTok turns out to be a hoax, TikTok users sound like they can live with that. Several commenters were hoping "The McDonald's Guy" was going to say Mariah Carey.
