The Surprising Food That Caused Chrissy Teigen's Horrible Allergic Reaction

Actress, Chrissy Teigen, recently took to Instagram to share photos from an unpleasant allergic food reaction. It was caused by a food product that is surprisingly commonplace in our lives, leaving her fans startled and concerned. Before we talk about that, it's worth mentioning that Teigen is a definite foodie, someone who takes an active interest in the cooking process. In fact, the model has blogged about her experiences with food in the past and even written cookbooks for her fans, offering them a glimpse into some of her most successful recipes.

According to her website, Teigen has been in love with food for a long time. "I spend the majority of my life in the kitchen—usually in a robe—and the only thing I love more than cooking, eating, and being horizontal on the couch is watching other people get inspired and find joy through food," she writes. Well, even her extensive food knowledge, couldn't quite save her when she suffered a horrific reaction from a food item she ate. Here's what went down.

Chrissy Teigen had an allergic reaction to an orange

As it turns out, it was not an exotic food item that made Teigen suffer. It was an orange. For real. The actress recently wrote on Instagram about her woes, including photos of what went down when she bit into a piece of fruit that left her with horribly swollen lips. She wrote, "It happened after I bit the skin of a suspicious orange. Maybe pesticides on the outside? I look like a juicy blow up doll, freshly unpacked."

Her fans were horrified. A commentator said that they hope that Teigen consults a doctor as soon as she can. Another Instagram user sympathized with her and wrote that they could feel the pain by just looking at the model's face. They wrote, "My lips hurt looking at this. Let me go find my chapstick." According to Livestrong, some of us are likely to suffer an allergic reaction after eating certain acidic foods. Yikes. Here's hoping that Teigen recovers as soon as possible.
