The recipe calls for one croissant sliced in half, one large beaten egg, one sausage patty, and one slice of American cheese. Oh, and that pinch of salt.

To get started, if you're using a frozen sausage patty, get it out to start thawing.

Now, slice the croissant in half and set it aside. Then, beat the egg in a small bowl. Add a pinch of salt to the egg (resisting the urge to add pepper, which makes cooking eggs turn gray) and whisk that in.
