Gather the ingredients for this fruit pizza recipe

To get started on making your own fruit pizza, you'll want to grab all of your ingredients right off the bat. Having all of your ingredients ready to go will make the process much smoother.

For this fruit pizza recipe, you'll need one stick of unsalted butter, softened, half of a cup of white sugar, half of a cup of brown sugar, one egg, one and a half cups of flour, half of a teaspoon of baking soda, and half of a teaspoon of salt. This is what you'll use to form the crust for your fruit pizza.

To make the topping, you'll need one (eight-ounce) brick of cream cheese, softened, four tablespoons butter, softened, one teaspoon of pure almond extract, two tablespoons of milk, and five cups of powdered sugar. In addition, you'll need a variety of fresh fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries to top your fruit pizza.

Cream the butter and sugars to make the cookie crust for this fruit pizza recipe

First things first. Before you dive in on making the dough for your fruit pizza crust, preheat the oven. Turn the oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit so it's heated and ready once your cookie dough is finished.

In a large mixing bowl, start by creaming the softened butter. Beat the butter to break it up, and then add in the white sugar and brown sugar. Mix until creamed and fluffy, and then mix in the egg.

Add the dry ingredients to finish the cookie crust for this fruit pizza recipe

Next up, it's time to add the dry ingredients to finish off the dough for your fruit pizza crust. In a separate bowl, add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix the dry ingredients to combine.

Then, gradually add the flour mixture into the butter and sugars mixture. Mix all of the flour mixture until a soft dough begins to form. The dough shouldn't be too wet or too dry once all ingredients have been incorporated.

Bake the cookie crust for this fruit pizza recipe

Once your fruit pizza dough is prepped and ready, it's time to bake. Prepare a ten-inch round cake pan for baking. Spray it generously with cooking spray to prevent the cookie from sticking while baking. If you don't have ten-inch round cake pan, an eight-inch or nine-inch pan will work.

Push all of the cookie dough into the round cake pan. Evenly spread out the dough to cover the entire bottom of the pan. Once ready, bake the fruit pizza cookie crust in the oven for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Once finished baking, remove the crust from the oven and set aside to completely cool.

Make the cream cheese topping for this fruit pizza recipe

While the fruit pizza crust is cooling, it's the perfect time to make the cream cheese topping. Add the softened brick of cream cheese into a mixing bowl. Mix to break up the cream cheese, and then add in four tablespoons of softened butter and mix well.

Next, add in two cups of powdered sugar, two tablespoons of milk, and one teaspoon of pure almond extract, and mix to combine. Continue to gradually add the remaining powdered sugar until a soft frosting forms.

Assemble and decorate the fruit pizza

Now comes the fun part. It's time to decorate! Once the cookie crust is completely cooled, spread a thick layer of the cream cheese topping on it. Use a spatula to spread the topping in an even layer.

Once the cream cheese topping or the "sauce" for your fruit pizza has been added, it's ready to be topped with plenty of fresh fruit. We utilized fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries to create the design for our fruit pizza. However, you can certainly utilize other fruit options such as sliced peaches, kiwis, and apples. It's up to you!

Add enough fruit to create a beautiful design for any celebration. Keep your fruit pizza in the fridge until ready to serve, and allow it to come to room temperature before serving.
