Aldi Shoppers Have Mixed Feelings About These Cookie Melts

Aldi never has a shortage of snacks on sale, and it is once again adding to its offering of sweet treats with the reappearance of its Benton's cookie melts. The packages are on sale now for $1.79 per box, which comes with six cookies each, according to Aldi Reviewer. This special find is available in chocolate, hazelnut, and peanut butter flavors and will only be on shelves for a limited time.

However, while the dessert sure looks decadent, some shoppers were on the fence about the snack. One uncertain Aldi customer decided to get a second opinion or two before purchasing the cookie, making a Reddit post asking if anyone had snacked on them yet. Other shoppers were quick to give their opinions of the product on the social media site, but not everyone could agree on whether these cookie melts were worth the buy.

One Redditor replied: "I tried the chocolate one and it was surprisingly bland. Not much flavor at all," and another user agreed the peanut butter flavor had a similar problem. Another follower also gave their two cents, posting: "I tried the chocolate one and thought the cookies had a sandy texture."

Some Aldi shoppers liked the flavor, but felt they were too heavy

Other reviews fell somewhere in the middle, saying they weren't bad but were just somewhat blah and unimpressive, with one shopper posting on Reddit: "We liked the PB ones, but they're kind of heavy and I'm not sure I would bother buying them again." The package does suggest heating the cookie melt in the microwave for 15 seconds for best results, and some shoppers noted that eating the cookie warm did make a difference in the taste.

However, even those that like the flavor found at least one thing to dislike about the cookies: the calorie count. According to the Aldi Reviewer, just one chocolate cookie melt contains 130 calories, 7 grams of fat, and 9 grams of sugar, so they are a fairly indulgent dessert. One user replied to the Reddit thread: "We liked them, but they are very caloric and so few in the package, I doubt I'll get them again," while another user joked: "Oh God. They're back. Goodbye skinny jeans."

So if you are feeling adventurous and want to sample a different kind of snack — one that tastes best when warmed — it might be worth trying these cookie melts for yourself.
