The Worst Chick-Fil-A Menu Item Might Surprise You

We all know what Chick-fil-A does well. The year of various chicken sandwich launches was inspired by an attempt Popeye's made to take part of the market Chick-fil-A has dominated. However, no menu has deep fried the platonic ideal of a contented coronary, so instead of focusing on what we already know, we thought we'd ask what Chick-fil-A offers that does not inspire the fanatical worship it commands. We polled 649 U.S. residents to find out which food you find least appetizing from the famous chicken chain.

While the Market Salad, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and Grilled Nuggets do not win popularity contests, they do not win infamy ones either with them only receiving a respective 6.78%, 8.32%, and 9.71% of the vote. The Cool Wrap drew a tad bit more of the survey's ire with 12.79%. So far, nothing has stood out as a truly terrible blunder. The final two options, however, give each other stiff competition for the honor of being Chick-fil-A's embarrassed inclusion.

Chick-fil-A customers don't seem to enjoy the healthier menu items

The two most reviled Chick-fil-A products by a clear margin are the Egg White Grill and the Lemon Kale Caesar Salad. The Egg While Grill managed to earn 30.35% of the vote, just missing the Lemon Kale Caesar Salad's losing victory of 32.05%. So, we have the absolute worst. But why? On the one hand, it could be an "of course" situation that a salad came last. As the Washington Post reported in 2016, the idea of a healthy salad at a fast food chain is a myth because the difficulties in getting fresh ingredients at the amounts to be really filling mean that salads run counter to the operating logic of such establishments.

However, people did not dislike the Market Salad at the chain nearly as much. The reason that the Lemon Kale Caesar Salad might have gotten special notice is that it has kale. NPR writes that a major determining factor as to whether or not you can stomach kale is your genetic makeup, specifically its more bitter flavor. So, this particular salad is both a fast food salad, and one that features a polarizing ingredient. No wonder it's considered Chick-fil-A's worst menu item.
