This Is The Fastest Anyone Has Been Able To Eat An Entire Pack Of PEZ

PEZ candies, and the cute little dispensers that take us all back to childhood, are just as beloved today as they were in 1955 when heads were added to the dispensers, according to Complete Set. However, it might surprise you to learn that this sweet confection didn't make its way to the United States until 1953, and when it did land in the New World, it wasn't beloved. The problem was it tasted like a mint because originally, this German invention was created to be a mint for adults who wanted to stop smoking, not a kids' candy. The fruity flavors we all know and love didn't hit our tongues until 1955, but when they did, PEZ candy became a thing.

Today, PEZ candies and those cute little dispensers that feature everyone from Santa Claus to "Star Wars" to the Beetles have a cult-like following, with PEZ collectors on the hunt for the rare, odd, fabled, and beloved examples. Smithsonian Magazine reveals PEZ candy dispensers can fetch quite a bit of money from collectors. There have been approximately 1,400 different PEZ heads. But there is another type of PEZ aficionado: those individuals who seek to set the fastest time for the most PEZ eaten from a PEZ dispenser. Who holds the record?

Corey Markovic from Australia holds the record

According to Record Setter, Corey Markovic from New South Wales, Australia holds the record for the fastest person to eat a package of PEZ using a dispenser. In November 2020 he gobbled up a pack of PEZ using a PEZ dispenser, doing so in 32.82 seconds. It's pretty amazing to watch. Markovic appears to have chosen a Curious George dispenser as his lucky charm to propel him to PEZ-eating greatness. When he gets to the end of the line, Markovic holds up the dispenser in victory to prove he has eaten all of the glorious candy.

But if you are thinking of picking up the baton, or in this case, a PEZ dispenser, and taking on the challenge to break Markovic's record (and why wouldn't you, since records are made to be broken?) Record Setter does have a warning disclaimer which reads: "Speed eating can be extremely dangerous. Please do not attempt this record unless you are above the age of 18 and trained as a professional speed eater. We will not accept submissions in this category from minors." Good luck!
