TikTok Can't Stop Watching This Espresso Tower Challenge

Tanner Colson, a former barista, is no stranger to specialty coffee, and when he decided he wanted to share his love of a good cup of Joe with others, he turned to social media. According to LinkedIn, the now-influencer posted his first TikTok in late 2019, a video he said was "terrible." Colson stuck with the platform though, saying he was having fun learning how to make videos and the ins and outs of social media marketing, and about one year later, he hit it big with two viral videos. His number of followers soared from 6,000 to 100,000 in only a few weeks.

Colson embarked on what would be one of the greatest, most significant series of TikTok videos in his social media career about a month ago, when he began documenting the progression of a tower of espresso pucks (aka the used grounds that are shaped like hockey pucks) that he has been building. Everyday, a new puck is added, and everyday, TikTok waits and watches in awe to see if it will be the fateful day the tower collapses. As of publishing, the tower is 32 pucks high!

Millions are glued to their screens to see when this espresso tower will fall

Tanner Colson's espresso tower TikTok videos have garnered thousands, and sometimes millions, of views each — the most views so far stand at 7.3 million for Day 20, when it was decided the shelf over the tower would have to be raised to accommodate the continued growth. Followers have been chiming in on the comments, predicting which day the tower will collapse, how big of a mess it will be, what Colson should have to do when it does crumble — "you gotta eat one when it falls" — and wondering what kind of world record Colson must have set by now. And, in an adorable exchange, a user who is presumably Colson's girlfriend commented, "I am absolutely obsessed with this," followed by a heart-eyed emoji.

As luck would have it, it's the perfect time for Colson to have hit mega social media fame status. He just launched his own coffee company, Colson Coffee, where he sells specialty blends from around the world, including those from Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Colombia.

Keep watching and waiting for when the tower will crumble!
