Fans Are Divided Over Trader Joe's Christmas Cookie Ornaments

The holiday season is a great time to get crafty with family and friends. While there are quite a few festive activities one can partake in around the holidays, making homemade ornaments is a great way to spend time together while also creating keepsakes that you can hang on your Christmas tree for years to come ... that is, unless you happen to get your ornament making kit at Trader Joe's

While Trader Joe's kits make adorable ornaments, they aren't meant to last forever. In fact, the results of Trader Joe's holiday ornament cookie kits are meant to be eaten just as soon as they are decorated. Rather than being filled with wood and glitter, these kits come with eight edible ornaments that are made with sweet baked cookies, candy sprinkles, and three different kinds of icing in festive red, white, and green colors, according to Delish. Each cookie is adorned with a small hole at the top and comes with a gold string, so it can serve as both an adorable tree ornament as well as a sweet holiday treat.

Many Trader Joe's shoppers find these decorate your own edible ornament kits to be a great addition to the holiday festivities. "Looking for a fun family night or an activity that pairs well with #winewednesday? Go grab the cookie kit from #traderjoes and show off your artistic side, then eat your masterpieces!"  @traderjoeslist posted to Instagram. However, while many shoppers who replied to this post were psyched, others had a more negative opinion.

Some shoppers felt the cookie ornaments were lacking in flavor

Quite a few shoppers were excited to see these festive treats were back on store shelves, and many said they had already purchased a box to share with their family. "My son loved this," raved one user who commented on the aforementioned post, while another celebrated "Yes!! Party favors for all!!" However, while most people could appreciate the idea behind the ornaments, some people felt they fell short in one important area: their flavor.

"Cute craft but the cookies are horrible! Taste like cardboard," posted @gina.guar.realestate. "The frostings are horrible. Cute idea but the red looked like ketchup and the green was like a pea green. The white was next to impossible to get out and I kneaded each for several minutes," another user agreed, while another said they were "disappointed" by the experience.

So, even though these edible ornaments may be a fun and unique way to trim your treat, if you are looking for a sweet treat that will really satisfy your taste buds, you might want to check out one of Trader Joe's many other tasty holiday offerings.
