This 16th-Century Pub Is Open For Airbnb Reservations

Airbnb is full of basic, serviceable, even chic and charming apartments and houses to rent. But there are also some unique accommodations on the vacation rental site for more adventurous travelers seeking a truly memorable lodging experience.

One such opportunity is called the White Hart Inn, and it's located in Lincolnshire, England, a beautiful North Sea county in England's Midlands region (via Airbnb). This 16th century pub is listed for rent on Airbnb for £650 ($874 USD as of this writing) per night, not including service and cleaning fees. If that sounds like a lot, don't worry. The White Hart Inn has six bedrooms and a sofa bed, so it comfortably sleeps up to 12-14 people. Divided up amongst you and 11 of your nearest and dearest, it can be quite the bargain.

Guests also get full use of the kitchen, a games room with a pool table, a beer garden, and — this is the important part — the pub itself with eight fully-functional taps for enjoying all the pints you can pull as you and your travel companions take turns playing barkeep. Ales, lagers, and other beverages are not included in the room rate, but the host will gladly hook up whichever pumps you like. The cooks in your group can even order groceries to be stocked ahead of arrival so they can try their hand at some traditional English dishes like a breakfast "fry-up" or a shepherd's pie.

Pub life in a quaint village

Pubs, or "inns" as they are sometimes called, have been a cultural hub for locals and a resting place for travelers for centuries. The White Hart Inn is steeped in history, having begun serving guests over 500 years ago (via Airbnb). Poet Alfred Lord Tennyson once stayed here, and his famous line "Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" is painted as an homage to the great wordsmith on one of the walls.

If pub life starts to feel too confining, you can explore the nearby village of Tetford, Lincolnshire. Emerge into the daylight and find out why this area is such a popular getaway. Its beautiful rolling hills and storybook-like English countryside are home to an historic castle containing one of the original four "Magna Carta" copies! There's also a sprawling medieval cathedral where scenes from "The Da Vinci Code" were filmed (via Historic UK). The area also features the medieval High Bridge, which crosses the River Witham. Shops dating all the way back to the 16th century are built right on top of the structure — it's one of just three bridges in England with shops on it. If pub life is calling you, you should book your Airbnb rental at the historic White Hart Inn quickly. As of this writing, The White Hart Inn is booked through 2025, save for one available week in February 2023.
