Every BodyArmor Flavor Ranked Worst To Best

The BodyArmor brand is working toward revolutionizing the sports drink industry: To accomplish this lofty goal, the brand makes all-natural sports drinks with coconut water. These drinks are packed with vitamins and are available in more than two dozen unique flavors. BodyArmor's founder Mike Repole likens the brand to Netflix and asserts that Gatorade, by contrast, is the blockbuster of the sports drink industry in that it has not adapted or moved with the times.

When you purchase a bottle of BodyArmor, you'll be pleased to see that the ingredients do not contain any high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, or artificial flavors. This health-focused strategy is paying off, as the brand surpassed $100 million in sales in 2015 and now brings in approximately $1.5 billion in sales on an annual basis.

BodyArmor's range of drinks is varied in terms of styles and flavors. While there are a lot of delicious BodyArmor flavors, there are also a handful that are a waste of time and money.

28. Watermelon Strawberry

Watermelon and strawberry are two of the most refreshing flavors you can imagine. If you're suffering through a hot, sunny afternoon and can't find an air-conditioned room to cool off in, a cold watermelon or strawberry drink is the next best thing. Tragically, Watermelon Strawberry BodyArmor isn't just disappointing, it might just be the worst sports drink on the market.

This drink is not refreshing in the least: First of all, the watermelon flavor is completely missing in action. There is no genuine watermelon flavor to be found in this flavor. Secondly, the strawberry flavor isn't pleasurable at all. It actually tastes like BodyArmor used unripe green strawberries in their recipe. Instead of a refreshing taste, this beverage leaves you with a bitter aftertaste that will cause you to want to spit it out. Unless you want to add to your misery, stay as far as away from Watermelon Strawberry BodyArmor as you can.

27. Berry Lemonade

If you're craving a lemonade-flavored sports drink, Berry Lemonade BodyArmor is one of only a couple of options this brand offers. Unfortunately, this flavor is a bust. The main issue is that the lemonade flavor is too unforgiving. The sourness dominates your tongue from the moment the liquid enters your mouth. The berry flavor adds a tiny amount of sweetness, but it's not nearly enough to counteract the lemonade.

Like Watermelon Strawberry BodyArmor, Berry Lemonade BodyArmor is part of this brand's original sports drink product line. This line promises to hydrate you with the help of electrolytes, much like other sports drink brands such as Gatorade. Additionally, these BodyArmor beverages feature B vitamins and antioxidants. BodyArmor sports drinks feature no artificial flavors, artificial dyes, or artificial sweeteners. BodyArmor's drinks derive their sweetness from pure cane sugar. Sadly, the Berry Lemonade BodyArmor could use a lot more cane sugar because its lack of sweetness makes it extremely unappetizing.

26. Peach Mango

The BodyArmor Lyte product line beverages contain no added sugar and instead contain an alternative sweetener called erythritol, a type of sugar alcohol. As a result, there are only about 20 calories per 16-ounce bottle. Similar to the original sports drink line, this product line also features potassium-rich electrolytes, B vitamins, and antioxidants. Regrettably, the Peach Mango flavor from the Lyte product range should be avoided.

Any hydration obtained from this drink is simply not worth the taste. This flavor tastes like it was created in a laboratory by a scientist who has never actually tasted peaches or mangos. This beverage tastes so artificial that it'll make you cringe. The aftertaste of this sports drink has such an intense chemical-like flavor that you'll question whether this stuff is actually safe to drink. Even the coconut water that this beverage contains isn't enough to redeem the sub-par taste of this drink that will leave your tastebuds significantly nauseated.

25. Orange Clementine

Orange Clementine is another flavor in the BodyArmor Lyte line that you're bound to loathe if you ignore this advice and decide to take a sip of this offering. This beverage is like a worse version of Tampico Citrus Punch, which is the absolute worst orange juice brand in existence. Like Tampico, this BodyArmor flavor relies too heavily on sweetness. Instead of allowing the natural tartness of the orange and clementine flavors to steal the show, an obscene amount of sugar has been added as a means of camouflaging the underlying tartness.

Consequently, this drink is so sickly sweet that you won't even want to take a second sip. If you've already purchased a bottle of Orange Clementine BodyArmor Lyte, the only thing you can do to salvage this drink is to water it down. It'll still be gross but at least it will be a drink you can consume without feeling physically ill.

24. Strawberry Slam

If you're looking for an energy boost, then the BodyArmor Edge product line will be of interest. These drinks contain 100 milligrams of caffeine. To put that number in perspective, a can of Pepsi has 38 milligrams of caffeine, while a can of Monster Energy typically has 160 milligrams. Thus, these BodyArmor beverages are closer to a full-blown energy drink than a can of soda in terms ofd caffeine content. BodyArmor Edge drinks are really great at providing a dose of hydration along with a dose of caffeinated stimulation.

While a lot of the flavors in this caffeinated product line are winners, Strawberry Slam BodyArmor is an unmitigated loser. This beverage tastes like melted strawberry bon bons with an aftertaste that is so sweet that you'll find it impossible to finish. After a few mouthfuls, you'll want to slam this strawberry-flavored catastrophe into the nearest garbage can and forget the entire episode.

23. Blueberry Pomegranate

The best part about pomegranate juice is how it magically manages to be sweet and sour at the same time: No other type of fruit juice has a similar kind of effect or taste. When you purchase a bottle of Blueberry Pomegranate BodyArmor, you're undoubtedly hoping that this flavor can replicate pomegranate juice magic, especially because the Blueberry Pomegranate is BodyArmor's only pomegranate-flavored beverage.

Unfortunately, just the aroma of this beverage indicates that your hopes and dreams for this flavor are about to be dashed: You can barely smell the pomegranate juice in this drink; only the blueberry juice aroma is discernable.

As it turns out, Blueberry Pomegranate BodyArmor Lyte tastes relies solely on blueberry flavoring. You can taste a little bit of the pomegranate when the aftertaste hits, but it's an insignificant part of the experience. If you want an overpowering blueberry beverage, this is the stuff to opt for. Otherwise, you will be left shaking your head in disappointment.

22. Tropical Chaos

The word "chaos" in the Tropical Chaos BodyArmor's name gives you a hint about its flavor profile: Drinking this caffeinated beverage is a flavorful roller coaster ride with a lot of ups and downs. However, once the bottle is empty, you'll regret your decision to purchase this BodyArmor flavor since the flavor ride is neither fun nor something you'd willfully want to repeat.

The main issue with Tropical Chaos BodyArmor is the lack of any discernible flavors. It tastes like this drink might be powered by pineapple and orange, but it's difficult to tell. This tropical beverage has so many competing flavors that it will confuse your taste buds.

There are a lot of sweet and tart flavors in this drink, but none of them complement each other well. After a few sips, you'll give up trying to pinpoint the exact fruit flavors utilized in this concoction. Instead of sifting through the mess that is this flavor, you'd be better off selecting a better BodyArmor variety.

21. SportWater

BodyArmor SportWater looks like water, smells like water, and tastes like water. It doesn't have an aftertaste or any other specific flavoring: It tastes just like fresh spring water. While water is obviously the main ingredient, BodyArmor SportWater also features a blend of electrolytes. If you're looking for a flavorless way to replenish your body after sweating, you'll be pleased with your purchase.

Another selling point of this product is that it claims to have a pH of greater than nine, which puts SportWater in the category of alkaline water. Many claim that alkaline water has numerous benefits, from preventing cancer to helping slow down the aging process. However, there isn't much proof to suggest that alkaline water is better for you than regular water. That said, if you're a believer, BodyArmor SportWater is a reasonably priced way to get the alkaline water you desire.

20. Watermelon

The best thing you can say about Watermelon BodyArmor is that it tastes better than plain water, although, truth be told, it's a neck-and-neck race. The best watermelon beverages are light, fun, and immensely refreshing: If you were to stick a straw into an actual watermelon, this is exactly what you'll be expecting to experience. This BodyArmor flavor, conversely, is quite strong. The watermelon flavor and the sweetness level have both been supercharged to a drastic degree.

If you love watermelon Jolly Ranchers, you'll probably like this beverage. It tastes a lot like melted watermelon Jolly Ranchers with an extra scoop of sugar added to the mix. Considering the additional sweetness, you'll need a hearty and insatiable sweet tooth to really fall head over heels for this flavor. On the other hand, if sucking on a watermelon Jolly Rancher doesn't sound like a good time, don't even consider grabbing a bottle of this stuff.

19. Mixed Berry

The vibrant coloring of the Mixed Berry BodyArmor bottle makes it seem as if all your berry-centric fantasies are about to come true. A combination of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries sounds like a wonderful mixture. Sadly, once you put the bottle to your lips, all your fantasies will go up in smoke. Instead of tasting like a wonderful concoction of blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry, this drink tastes like generic fruit punch with a splash of strawberry flavoring. While it smells like blueberry juice, it doesn't taste like blueberries at all.

If you don't mind a strawberry-based fruit punch, then go ahead and acquire a bottle of Mixed Berry BodyArmor. It has a balanced flavor profile and isn't too sweet or too sour. The only notable problem is that it doesn't live up to the promise of being a mix of berries. Then again, that's a rather serious issue, especially because there are a lot of other berry-flavored options that are far superior.

18. Power Punch

Judging the Power Punch BodyArmor based on its name is a dangerous idea. It sounds like it'd be a thick, syrupy beverage that packs a mighty fruit punch flavor that is capable of knocking you back on your heels. Shockingly, reality can be found at the other end of the spectrum. This BodyArmor flavor is really delicate. It tastes like a watered-down fruit punch that's light on sweetness.

Power Punch BodyArmor Edge is actually a really good choice if you need a massive energy boost and want to drink two or three bottles. It's such a light, unassuming flavor that you won't get tired of drinking it, which allows you to get all the caffeine that you could possibly need, with the added bonus of loading up on the B vitamins, antioxidants, and electrolytes. Since drinks in the BodyArmor Edge product line contain 1,000 milligrams of electrolytes in each bottle, drinking a few bottles could really help boost your intake levels.

17. Kiwi Strawberry

Kiwi Strawberry BodyArmor is a perfectly acceptable flavor, but it's not going to win any awards, and it is unlikely to become one of your favorites. It's certainly an adequate beverage to drink if you're thirsty. The strawberry flavoring is splendid. It tastes like real, honest-to-goodness strawberries have been blended up and added to the drink. The genuine strawberry flavors in this drink will blow you away.

Sadly, the greatness of the strawberry flavoring doesn't extend to the kiwi flavoring. While this drink does have faint inklings of something that is kiwi-esque, the taste is supremely underwhelming. Strangely, the kiwi flavor is bitter and has a harsh aftertaste. While it doesn't ruin the strawberry half of the equation, it does successfully interfere with what would otherwise be a highly exciting, vibrant flavor. Thankfully, this is the only BodyArmor flavor that contains kiwi.

16. Berry Blitz

Unlike the aforementioned Mixed Berry BodyArmor that actually just tastes like fruit punch, the Berry Blitz BodyArmor legitimately tastes like a combination of berries. This drink has notes of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and cherries, and even hints of a flavor that is reminiscent of grape. Each time you take a sip, you'll be wowed by the berry-powered goodness of this drink.

The only caveat to keep in mind is that this is a deep, rich flavor that can be exhausting to drink. Due to the intensity of this flavor, drinking even one entire bottle of Berry Blitz BodyArmor Edge can be a difficult undertaking. It's best to take it easy and sip this drink slowly over the course of an entire afternoon. You can forget about drinking multiple bottles in one sitting: It's just not a realistic plan. If you need more than 100 milligrams of caffeine, pick a lighter, more forgiving flavor in the BodyArmor Edge product line.

15. Orange Mango

Orange Mango is the most divisive of all BodyArmor flavors. Some people will love this flavor and put it on their personal list of personal favorites. Others will be thoroughly disgusted after a single mouthful. You might as well buy a bottle just to see where you land in the debate. The upside of finding a new favorite flavor easily overshadows the possibility that you'll be grossed out after your first sip.

The first flavor your tongue will detect is the orange. It's super tangy and oh-so authentic. Moments later, the sweeter mango flavor arrives at the scene. This flavor is less authentic, but you won't mind because it arrives with a much-needed kick of sweetness. The people who adore Orange Mango BodyArmor enjoy the back and forth ride between the tanginess and the sweetness. For everyone else, the contrast is too stark and isn't fun in the slightest.

14. Berry Punch

Berry Punch BodyArmor delivers on the promise you see on the bottle: The bottle has images of pineapples, cherries, and blueberries on the label, and these are exactly the three flavors that you will taste in this energizing drink. Two of the three flavors are delicious, and one is forgettable: The pineapple and blueberry flavors are the big hits. The pineapple flavor is so yummy that you'll instantly believe that you're sitting on a tropical beach enjoying a lazy afternoon.

The blueberry flavor has a delicate tartness that will win you over as it gently hugs your taste buds. The cherry flavor, though, is sad. It tastes like watered-down cough syrup. While this drink might not sound amazing, the result of these intermingling tastes is a BodyArmor flavor that is safely above average. If you buy a bottle of this stuff, it will go down as money well spent.

13. Tropical Punch

While BodyArmor has other, more delectable flavors, the Tropical Punch BodyArmor is ultra-refreshing. If you're hot, sweaty, and need to get hydrated in a hurry, you can't go wrong with this version of BodyArmor. This flavor is easy to drink because it has a mild flavor that doesn't overload your senses when you start gulping it down.

Tropical Punch BodyArmor tastes like a mix of grape, pineapple, and orange: This might not be a combo you come across every day, but it actually works rather well. The balance between the three types of fruit flavors is optimal as each flavor is subtle enough to allow all three fruits to shine. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that this flavor is best when it's served really cold. It becomes a much heavier beverage that isn't nearly as invigorating if you drink it at anything close to room temperature.

12. Blue Raspberry

As long as you know exactly what you can and what you cannot expect, Blue Raspberry BodyArmor is an okay choice. First of all, this beverage doesn't taste like the iconic Blue Raspberry Icee, the drink that's responsible for introducing blue raspberry flavor to the world. Secondly, it doesn't taste like Powerade's Mountain Berry Blast, which is unfortunate because Mountain Berry Blast is not only the best Powerade flavor, it's arguably the best sports drink on the market.

When you first take a sip of Blue Raspberry BodyArmor, you'll taste a sweet blueberry flavor. When the aftertaste strikes, you'll discover a tart raspberry flavor. While it's definitely different from most blue raspberry beverages, it's a flavor combination that will grow on you the more you drink it. It may take two or three bottles, but if you keep your expectations in check, you should eventually find something you enjoy about this BodyArmor flavor.

11. Gold Berry

When you're at your local supermarket and you reach the sports drink aisle, the Gold Berry BodyArmor bottle will definitely catch your eye. This golden bottle with the words "go for gold" on it is impossible to miss. While this flavor isn't quite the best that BodyArmor has to offer, you won't be upset if you actually decide to go for this gold bottle.

Although golden berries are a real fruit that can be found in South America, that's not what powers this BodyArmor flavor. Also, while the bottle is gold, the liquid inside isn't actually gold, it's purple.

That purple coloring should give your taste buds a hint of what to expect. Gold Berry BodyArmor tastes almost exactly like raspberry juice. The flavor is relatively light, but it's sweeter than most other offerings by this brand. The aftertaste has notes of blueberry and strawberry, however, the raspberry is the dominant flavor.

10. Fruit Punch

If you're searching for a flavor of BodyArmor that has universal appeal, look no further than Fruit Punch BodyArmor. Whether it's being consumed by little kids with stubborn palates or the snobbiest of food snobs, this flavor won't disappoint. There's nothing fancy about it, mind you, but there's value in the fact that it can put a smile on anyone's face.

Sweetness is the key characteristic of Fruit Punch BodyArmor. From the moment it first enters your mouth until the last drop in the bottle has vanished, your tongue will be coated with a lovely sweet flavor. While you can taste both pineapple and cherry in this flavor, the pineapple does most of the heavy lifting. If you hold your breath and really concentrate, you can also taste a little bit of orange flavor though it's extremely faint and doesn't add any amount of tartness to the mix.

9. Coconut

Since BodyArmor is made with coconut water, it makes sense that coconut-charged flavors are within BodyArmor's forte. While there's nothing groundbreaking about Coconut BodyArmor, it's a delicious way to hydrate and get your electrolytes. This stuff tastes even better than coconut water, most likely due to the optimal amount of sweetness that is added to the coconut flavoring.

Coconut BodyArmor Lyte is low enough in calories that it can be used as a water replacement. If you're tired of plain water but want something that is equally as easy to drink, this should be your pick. You'll find that the colder you keep this flavor of BodyArmor, the better it tastes. If you don't have time to cool it off in your refrigerator, just pour it into a glass that's filled with ice. Even if the ice waters down the drink a little bit, you'll still love this drink.

8. Watermelon Wave

Watermelon Wave BodyArmor is the best watermelon-charged flavor produced by this brand. It's not even a close contest: In comparison to this flavor, the other watermelon-based BodyArmor Edge drinks are simply not worthy of your hard-earned dollars. While the previously mentioned Watermelon BodyArmor tastes like watermelon-flavored Jolly Ranchers, this flavor tastes like actual watermelon juice from real watermelons. The sweetness level is moderate, which prevents this beverage from tasting like melted candy.

This caffeinated BodyArmor flavor is quite similar to Monster Energy's Zero-Sugar Ultra Watermelon. Monster Energy's version is a little bit sweeter and a tad bit more refreshing; however, the Watermelon Wave BodyArmor Edge is easier to drink because Monster Energy's beverages are carbonated and BodyArmor's beverages are non-carbonated. You can easily keep drinking a couple of bottles of this BodyArmor's Watermelon Wave flavor without skipping a beat, which allows you to attain the ideal levels of refreshment.

7. Pineapple Coconut

The Pineapple Coconut BodyArmor makes for a fabulous selection. This BodyArmor flavor is so sweet that your sweet tooth will throw a party the moment it hits your lips. This stuff smells like pineapple juice, and the pineapple flavor is the first thing you will taste.

The pineapple is extraordinarily sweet (even for pineapple juice) but it is just so flavorful that you'll find yourself enjoying it, especially since the sweetness is far more refreshing and exciting than the artificial sugary taste possessed by some of the other flavors.

The coconut flavor doesn't show up until the end, but it is also amazing. Imagine sweetened coconut flakes in a liquified form: That's the flavor of the marvelous coconut aftertaste of this drink. If you don't like sweet beverages, you should skip this BodyArmor offering. Otherwise, you owe it to yourself to try this flavor at least once during your life.

6. Strawberry Lemonade

Before you give up on BodyArmor's ability to make a yummy lemonade flavored beverage, give Strawberry Lemonade BodyArmor a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the taste. BodyArmor can sometimes struggle with balancing sweet flavors and sour flavors, but that's not an issue with this drink. In fact, this balance of flavors is exactly what makes this beverage such a champion.

Each sip is an experience with this drink: The lemonade flavor is the star of the show. It's sour enough to make you pucker but not so sour that you'll be questioning your purchase. A sweetened strawberry juice joins the proceedings in perfect harmony. The strawberry flavor is bound to turn your pucker into a grin.

Each time you take a sip, you'll enjoy both the initial sourness and the cooling sweetness more and more. By the time the bottle is empty, you'll be counting down the minutes until you can twist the cap off your next bottle.

5. Blackout Berry

Everything about Blackout Berry BodyArmor is super hip and trendy. Your coolness level will skyrocket just by carrying around the black bottle. The little bit of red lettering on the bottle and the purple-colored drink make this BodyArmor drink even more eye-catching. Taste-wise, you'll be thrilled. The liquid inside the bottle tastes just as good as the coolness of the bottle suggests. Even if this drink came in a nondescript bottle, it'd still be an incredible flavor option: It's just that delicious.

Blackout Berry BodyArmor mostly tastes like blackberry juice. Considering that it can be difficult to find blackberry flavored beverages for sale, the uniqueness of the taste is another major plus in its favor. If you adore blackberries, you have no excuse not to try this stuff. The aftertaste has a little bit of a raspberry flavor; however, the blackberry flavor continues to take center stage in your tastebuds as you sip on this drink.

4. Orange Frenzy

For people who start their day with a tall glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee, you can now combine both of these beverages into one drink: The Orange Frenzy BodyArmor. This drink has the clean, crisp taste of top-of-the-line orange juice. It also contains a decent amount of caffeine. In fact, the BodyArmor Edge line of drinks contains more caffeine (100 milligrams) than a shot of espresso from Starbucks (77 milligrams). This flavor combines two different beverages into one bottle, making it an easy way to start your day.

Orange Frenzy BodyArmor Edge is the best of BodyArmor's caffeinated options. This stuff is maniacally flavorful and has a rich taste that will linger in your mouth for hours. The tanginess of the flavor will capture your attention. The tanginess of this drink and its caffeine content will help ensure that you're wide awake and give you the energy boost you need.

3. Strawberry Grape

The late NBA star Kobe Bryant is one of the most important individuals in the history of BodyArmor. In 2013, Kobe became one of the company's top shareholders, and his connection to this brand helped popularize it within the basketball community specifically and the world in general. Strawberry Grape Mamba Forever BodyArmor is the brand's way of paying homage to Kobe and helping ensure nobody ever forgets how much he meant to the company.

Strawberry Grape BodyArmor bottles are purple and gold, the same color combination as the uniforms for the Los Angeles Lakers, which is the team that Kobe played with for 20 years. You'll also see the words "Mamba forever" on the label, which refers to Kobe's nickname, "Black Mamba." Once you taste this BodyArmor flavor, you'll be overjoyed. While there is a little bit of strawberry flavoring, the grape flavoring leads the way and is absolutely scrumptious on the palate.

2. Tropical Coconut

Tropical Coconut BodyArmor is not only the best coconut-charged flavor in BodyArmor's catalog; it's one of the best coconut beverages in all of the culinary universe. It tastes so authentic and so tropical that it seems impossible that this drink only consists of 20 calories. Three main flavors shine bright in this BodyArmor flavor: Coconut, pineapple, and mango.

Of the three, the coconut is definitely the best flavor. Since the drink already has coconut water as its backbone, the addition of extra coconut flavoring to this drink is awe-inspiring and really takes this drink to a whole new level. The pineapple adds an unforgettable amount of sweetness, while the mango adds depth and diversity. This drink is refreshing, light, and flavorful all at the same time. The delicious Tropical Coconut BodyArmor definitely deserves a spot in your shopping cart each and every time you head to the grocery store.

1. Strawberry Banana

If you know someone who is a diehard fanatic of old-school sports drinks like Gatorade or Powerade and you want to steer them towards a modernized sports drink, point them towards the Strawberry Banana BodyArmor. This beverage tastes like it was beamed down from the sports drink gods for earthlings to enjoy. The strawberry flavor is wonderful. It's a bit tart at first, but it gets sweeter and more refreshing the longer it stays in your mouth.

The real showstopper, though, is the amazing banana flavor. It's authentic and adds another layer of sweetness to the mix. The combination of the strawberry and banana in this beverage works better than the flavor in your favorite brand of strawberry banana yogurt. While you should probably try other BodyArmor flavors to change things up now and then, it's also completely understandable if this is the only flavor you ever purchase.
