Reddit Hilariously Attempted To Rename A New Style Of Egg

If eggs are a staple of your family's breakfast menu, you might be aware of the many ways they can be prepared. Per Eggs, the four main types of fried egg include sunny side up, over easy, over medium, and over well. Sunny side up is described as a fried egg with the yolk upward but not flipped, and over easy is a flipped egg with a runny yolk. Additionally, over well is when the yolk of a flipped egg is hard, and over medium is when the yolk is only slightly runny.

According to Breakfast with Nick, other egg preparation methods include soft scrambled, hard scrambled, hard boiled, soft boiled, poached, baked, basted, creamed, and even in the form of an omelet or quiche recipe. Just when you thought all the egg prep options were exhausted, a Redditor posted a photo of one that doesn't seem to match any that's been named above, which sent the comment section into a frenzy.

It might be called a jammy egg

Last month, a Redditor posted a photo of eggs that didn't seem to tick the boxes of a predetermined style. "Settling a debate what style egg would you consider this? Yolks are not cooked but not runny," they wrote. One comment read, "Over medium with a broken yolk please," which seemed to be the one OP agreed with the most because they responded, "That's what I'm looking for! Just the slightest break on the yoke [sic] though."

Other comments kept the conversation going in a hilarious fashion. "Over medium and step on it," one wrote. Another posted, "Medium broken yolk well done." A couple posters agreed that the egg was actually called a "jammy egg," though "This term is relatively newer ... if you're ordering at a restaurant, I'm not sure everyone would know what you mean by this." Regardless of what the egg is actually called, many Redditors agreed it looked delicious. "Yummy style," a comment read.
