How Paul Hollywood Really Feels About Noel Fielding
At first glance, most viewers would probably say that "Great British Bake Off" stars Paul Hollywood and Noel Fielding couldn't be more different, and they would be right. The two are known for their unmistakable personalities and viewers would be forgiven for wondering if the pair butt heads outside of the Bake Off tent. Rumors of tension between the stars may have started from a 2017 report that the duo initially got off to a rocky start when Fielding joined the GBBO cast (via Express).
According to the source, Fielding stated that he and Hollywood experienced some awkward encounters at the start of their working relationship which were mostly due to the two men's differing interests. Despite possibly getting off on the wrong foot, insiders have stated that there was never any real tension between Hollywood and Fielding (via The Sun). While Hollywood may be more serious than Fielding, the pair's dynamic and witty banter are part of what makes GBBO so engaging to fans. Nevertheless, many still can't help but wonder whether the pair really get along offscreen.
Evidence points to a healthy friendship between Hollywood and Fielding
When one Reddit user took to the r/bakeoff subreddit to boast about meeting Hollywood at a New York City meet and greet in celebration of the star baker's new cookbook "Bake," commenters were quick to inquire whether or not Hollywood had any words to share about his costar.
"Paul had nothing but praise for Prue, Mary, Noel, and Matt," said the OP. On Hollywood's relationship with Fielding, the user recalled, "he said that Noel is like a brother." While heartwarming, Reddit wasn't the internet's only glimpse into Hollywood and Fielding's friendship. The Sun reports that the pair were seen on a night on the town back in 2019 shortly after Hollywood split from his then-partner, Summer Monteys-Fullam.
The GBBO veterans even took to Instagram to post a series of photos of themselves enjoying a beverage and pulling funny faces. In a recent post, you'll find the two dressed in "Star Wars" themed costumes, looking exactly as you'd picture any friends posing together.
All the evidence points to the unlikely duo reaching BFF status, both in and out of the bake-off tent.
