1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc Is Donating 20% Of Gift Proceeds To Feeding America

According to an economic research report from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), an estimated 10.2% of households, or 13.5 million households, in the United States in 2021 were "food insecure," meaning those households didn't have enough resources to provide their whole household with enough food at some point during the year. Unfortunately, food shortages may be seen as another health crisis, but there are many organizations that are doing their best to help with the issue. Feeding America, for example, is the "largest domestic hunger-relief organization" in the United States that helps about 40 million people each year and has served an estimated 6.6 billion meals so far to individuals in need.

Furthermore, some companies, such as 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc., are also trying to help the hunger crisis in the United States. The company has teamed up with Feeding America before and donated part of its proceeds to a good cause. Also, the flower and gift delivery purveyor actually donated perishable goods valued at around $6 million to Feeding America food banks and other non-profit organizations in 2021, according to a press release. For the 2022 holiday season, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. is working with Feeding America once again.

In addition to purchasing products from the Season of Giving collection, customers also have the option to donate money directly to Feeding America, and the flower and gift company aims to raise enough to help Feeding America provide around 500,000 meals to individuals in need. Each dollar raised can provide 10 meals (via the press release), and Feeding America has its own network of around 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and other meal programs throughout the United States, with about one in seven Americans being served by the organization, according to Feeding America.
