When you think of grabbing some fast food, what comes to mind? Burgers and fries, or perhaps fried chicken? Maybe a taco? Usually, what you're going for is a main meal on the run.
There are times, though, when you want something sweet in a hurry, and for that reason, most fast food chains also offer some type of dessert item on the menu. While some of these are less than impressive (we're looking at you, sad Subway cookies), others are worth making a trip through the drive-through even if you're not ordering anything else.
When it comes to the best of the best, though, there's one dessert that comes out on top of nearly every list. Is it any surprise that everyone's favorite fast food dessert is the famous Wendy's Frosty?
Why the Wendy's Frosty is the best
Cheatsheet and Eater put the Frosty at the very top of their respective rankings of fast food desserts, both praising not only its creamy flavor but also its versatility — you can dip your fries in it! You can eat it with a spoon, or let it melt and drink it! While both the vanilla and the chocolate flavors have their merits, Eater recommends the Black and White (vanilla and chocolate mixed) as being the quintessential fast food frozen dessert, bar none.
Ranker, a website that compiles popular votes rather than relying on editorial opinion, also shows the Frosty as tallying the highest number of up-votes, although on their list of best desserts it comes in a close second to Dairy Queen's Blizzard due to having received a larger number of down-votes. And while Thrillist gave the Frosty the No. 2 spot behind Taco Bell's cinnamon sticks, they still call it a "fast food icon."
