Given the high price of groceries, shoppers are probably happy for any opportunity to save some money when they go on a food run. But not everyone has time in their busy schedule to research prices across different stores to find the lowest ones. That's where going to discount grocery chains and warehouse membership clubs like Sam's Club can help.

You might not think there's a lot you can still get with just a $5 bill, but we searched Sam's Club stock to find some of the best foods which fall below that price threshold (before taxes). More than half are from the retailer's own Member's Mark brand. (Indeed, buying items under the private label is one of the shopping tips that will save you money at the chain.)

Some of the products listed include salads, savory snacks, and sweet treats. There are also spices (which are among the various pantry staples worth buying at Sam's Club). Multiple items are only available in the warehouses or for delivery, which we indicate for offerings that can't be shipped.

Member's Mark Petite Dill Pickles

Just imagine it: Member's Mark Petite Dill Pickles closely nestled together in their generously-sized 46-ounce glass jar, just waiting to land on a plate next to a sandwich or be eaten as a tangy snack. They are made kosher-style, with garlic included (and visible) in the vinegary pickling liquid. Onions are also part of the flavoring mix. Sam's Club sells these diminutive pickles for $4.98.

Mahatma Brown Rice

Mahatma's Brown Rice boasts a nutty flavor and a nutritional profile which tops that of white rice. Because this whole grain retains the outer layer that's removed from its white counterpart, you'll need a little more patience to prepare it. However, one Sam's Club customer who gave the item a five-star review said, "Takes a little longer to cook than the minute rice but worth every additional minute." The warehouse membership club sells the hefty 5-pound bag for $4.98.

Drizzilicious Pumpkin Spice Bites Rice Cakes

Favorite fall flavors meld with airy mini rice cakes in these Drizzilicious Pumpkin Spice Bites. The crunchy popped snacks include rice, quinoa, chia, and flax, plus a white chocolaty drizzle with pumpkin spice flavor. They come in 8-ounce bags that are available exclusively from Sam's Club for $4.98.

Crown Prince Anchovies in Olive Oil

You might think of anchovies as just a pizza topping or an ingredient in Caesar salad. But the canned fish can contribute loads of umami to many recipes. Moreover, they melt away when they cook so you might not even notice them. (No wonder they're Alton Brown's "secret weapon" for sauces and dips." The Crown Prince's Flat Anchovies in Olive Oil are wild-caught fish from Morocco in a two-ounce, pull-top tin that Sam's Club sells for $3.01.

Member's Mark Bang Bang Seasoning

This Bang Bang Seasoning from Member's Mark combines dried ginger, garlic, soy sauce, red peppers, chili peppers, and cayenne with sugar. It's labeled as having medium heat (though your taste buds are free to disagree). Based on the robust flavors of Bang Bang Chicken, it can be used with a range of foods, including when mixed with mayo to create a sauce. The 9-ounce jar costs $4.48 at Sam's Club.

Kinder's Cherry Brown Sugar Seasoning

Kinder's Cherry Brown Sugar Seasoning sounds like it would be used in baking, but the spice blend is actually meant for barbecue. It combines the sweet and fruity flavors with savory ingredients  like dried garlic and onion. A Sam's Club customer who praised the product wrote, "This seasoning is surprisingly delicious, the scent is very heavy cherry but when used to season meat ... and grilled/smoked it really turns out nice." The 9.7-ounce jar is available at the chain's warehouses or for delivery only for $2.91.

Member's Mark Sea Salt Caramel Cookie Thins

Member's Mark Sea Salt Caramel Cookie Thins are crisp treats with a short ingredient list that includes real eggs and molasses. The product is also free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. The caramel-flavored cookies are topped with coarse sea salt and sugar coating. So they would work for basic snacking or making a bite-sized sandwich with your favorite ice cream. The 1-pound bag is available at Sam's Club's stores or for delivery only for $4.98.

Member's Mark Red Quinoa Chia Corn Tortilla Chips

Snack time gets a more elevated, grown-up take with Member's Mark Red Quinoa Chia Corn Tortilla Chips. This multigrain offering includes red and white quinoa, flax, and chia, along with the traditional corn base. The all-natural chips also get their flavor from the addition of spice and sugar. Sam's Club sells them in a 16-ounce bag for $4.78.

Member's Mark Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Member's Mark Roasted Red Pepper Hummus combines the mellow sweetness of cooked bell peppers with the traditional chickpea and tahini spread. Other ingredients in the creamy blend include garlic, paprika, and cumin. The large 2-pound container is sold in Sam's Club stores or via delivery for $4.54. Think of creative ways to eat the hummus if you buy it, since consumers are advised to use it within seven days of opening.

Member's Mark Southwest Chopped Salad Kit

Assemble a tasty salad in a snap with this Southwest Chopped Salad Kit from Member's Mark. The 12-ounce bag's mix includes romaine lettuce, red and green cabbage, kale, carrots, dried corn, a seasoned taco cheese blend, and corn sticks with a salsa flavoring. A cup of mild Southwest ranch dressing also comes in the kit. Turn it into a meal with an add-in like chicken, steak, shrimp, or vegetarian-friendly beans. Sam's Club sells it in stores or by delivery for $2.94.
