Shopping for any major appliance can be stressful, dishwashers included. The brands and models available cover a relatively expansive price range, with features that often provide similar functionality under different names. All of this can make it hard to size up which option is best. One of the most straightforward ways to separate the top brands from the ones worth avoiding is to ask the people who've been buying them. That's precisely what JD Power did for its 2026 U.S. Appliance Satisfaction Study, and found that KitchenAid and Samsung dishwashers outperformed Bosch and LG, both often thought of as top-of-the-line options.

The study surveyed over 28,000 people who purchased home appliances in the previous year. KitchenAid (best known for its expensive mixers) and Samsung tied at the top of the dishwasher rankings, scoring 720 out of 1,000 total points. Bosch was close behind with 714, still noticeably above the 698 average satisfaction for all dishwasher brands surveyed. Perhaps surprisingly, LG came in a bit below average at 690. Still, all four brands were substantially higher-rated than last-place Frigidaire at 652.

KitchenAid and Samsung both have many dishwashers to choose from. A KitchenAid 24-inch Top Control built-in tall tub 44 dBA dishwasher earned 4.6 out of 5 stars from Home Depot shoppers. A similar model, the Samsung Bespoke 24-inch built-in tall tub 39 dBA smart dishwasher scored a 4.4-star rating at Home Depot. Let's take a closer look at what customers have said about each brand's top-rated models.

Why people love KitchenAid and Samsung dishwashers

Both Samsung and KitchenAid dishwashers offer modern amenities. Each brand carries built-in models with high-tech drying systems that automatically open the door at the end of each wash cycle to conserve energy, improve performance, and prevent plasticware damage. A reviewer of the Samsung Bespoke 24-inch dishwasher said, "The features are intuitive and easy to use ... The drying function works really well. I can take my dishes from the dishwasher back to my cabinets." Someone else who purchased the same model noted, "This dishwasher can handle anything and everything you can throw at it! I love the 3rd rack, power washing, the quietness ... and the light inside is a great touch!"

JD Power's 2026 Satisfaction Study didn't rate KitchenAid in as many categories as Samsung, LG, and Bosch. The brand's legacy is strongly rooted in high-end, colorful stand mixers (that can be used in a variety of genius ways), but now, KitchenAid's dishwashers are enjoying similar praise. "Very pleased with this dishwasher. Dishes sparkling and clean and the automatic filter clean feature is really nice," wrote a reviewer of the KitchenAid 24-inch Top Control unit.

When it comes to dishwashers, performance involves more than just the quality of the manufacturer's parts and assembly. Loading your dishwasher the right way is just as vital on a day-to-day basis, including pre-scraping plates to remove food and not overcrowding the machine. Nevertheless, those looking for a model customers love should investigate options from KitchenAid and Samsung, no matter what the reputations of other brands might suggest.
