Consumer Reports' Lowest-Rated Induction Stove Of 2026 Is Also One Of The Most Expensive
The lowest-rated induction stove, according to Consumer Reports, is Electra 120V, mainly due to its poor performance in high-heat cooking and broiling. This doesn't exactly sound like a good deal considering the range is among the highest priced on CR's list at roughly $4,000. For comparison, Consumer Reports' top-rated induction stove, Frigidaire Gallery, starts at around $1,600. It should be noted, however, Electra is relatively new to the market, so its low rating has a chance of improving in the coming years.
The Electra induction stove commands its price tag because it features relatively new technology — it's a battery-assisted induction stove that can plug into 120V outlets rather than the 240V circuits other induction stoves require. This makes Electra much easier to install than other stoves on the Consumer Reports list and also allows it to run even when the power goes out. Still, the appliance might actually be a bit of a bargain for its price tag, as other popular battery-assisted induction stoves can cost way more.
The Impulse Cooktop by Impulse Labs, for instance, will set customers back around $7,000, while Copper Charlie's latest model starts at around $6,800. Electra estimates the additional electrical work some homes need to switch to induction can cost as high as $6,000. This is a major consideration if you live in a state looking at banning gas stoves, like New York did back in 2023.
What customers say about Electra 120V induction stove
Since Electra only began shipping its induction stove to customers in the second quarter of 2026, user reviews are pretty scarce. According to multiple customers, however, there's a lot to like about the range. User reviews shared on the Electra website wrote positively about how the stove heats up quickly while staying cool to the touch, which is one of the biggest advantages of using an induction stovetop. Others like how handy the battery is during power outages and how well Electra's customer service communicates with them about their concerns.
On Reddit, one user posted a glowing review about their range, highlighting how quickly the cooktop and oven heat up without being loud, saying it felt like a premium $4,000 stove even if it didn't come with the perk of a battery. Another Reddit user was impressed by their stove's build quality and mentioned no whining noises during its first use. One Redditor echoed the Consumer Reports evaluation and felt Electra's burners were too low powered for the cost, although another user said they did not have this problem.
