Induction ranges come with many impressive advantages over other appliances. These devices use electromagnetic fields to truncate cooking times and ensure even, uniform heating of food since the heat comes from the pot or pan itself and not merely the burner (more on that later). If you've been shying away from induction ranges due to their cost, Consumer Reports has some great news. In its 2026 ranking of the best ranges, the consumer protection organization named the Frigidaire Gallery as the best in the induction category. Among the appliance's many impressive attributes is its competitive price tag. The range retails for about $1,399 (though prices may vary).

For comparison, Consumer Reports named the LG Studio second and the GE Profile third in the induction ranking. Both ranges cost $1,300 to $2,100 more than the Frigidaire Gallery but received a lower overall score (Consumer Reports considered factors like cook times, uniform heating, spaciousness, and ease of cleaning in its ranking). The Frigidaire Gallery may lack the bells and whistles of higher-end models (though an upgrade is available), but it's an undeniably solid choice when it comes to function and cost. Here are some other kitchen appliances with price cuts in case your kitchen is in need of an overhaul.

What to consider when switching to induction cooking

Whether you're overdue for a new oven range or have always wondered about induction cooking, the Frigidaire Gallery GCFI3060BF is an enticing buy. However, making the switch to an induction oven requires some considerations. Top among them is cookware. Not all pots and pans are induction friendly. Since these appliances use an electromagnetic field to heat cookware, induction cooking requires magnetic pots and pans to work as intended. You can find induction-compatible cooking vessels in most stores, but steer clear of ceramic, glass, pure copper, and pure aluminum. When evaluating existing cookware, anything a magnet sticks to should be compatible with an induction range.

Your current kitchen setup also matters. Switching from a gas to an electric stove can be an involved process, and you'll need to check the outlet voltage and circuit capability in your kitchen before installing the new range. If you can't meet the electrical requirements, an electrician can make the necessary updates. There's also an adjustment period to consider when using an induction unit, as the controls and speedy cook times can throw some people off initially. While these appliances aren't suited to every home chef, Frigidaire's affordable induction range makes right now a great time to dive into electromagnetic cooking.
