The Costco bakery has a huge fan club fueled by social media accounts and Reddit threads that highlight the best treats coming out of the warehouse giant's kitchen. Thanks to these fans, plenty of baked goods have gone viral. But there's one pastry that could be considered Costco's sweetheart, and that's the Kirkland Signature Almond Danishes. They're flaky like a croissant with an almond paste filling that has captivated customers for the last five years. "Almond Danishes clear literally everything else in the bakery as far as I'm concerned," one Redditor explained. Others agree, saying Kirkland Signature almond Danishes are better than what you'd find at most bakeries.

Members have placed Kirkland Signature Almond Danishes in a league of their own because of the combination of texture and flavor. They praise the pastry for its buttery layers and the extra crunch you'll get from a garnish of sliced almonds. A gentle dusting of powdered sugar complements the sweet, creamy almond filling. They're so good, they've landed on our own Mashed list of best breakfast pastries in the Costco bakery — and they're reasonably priced. In fact, they're among our favorite Costco breakfast items under $15. Kirkland Danishes are packaged four to a pack and sold in a mix-and-match deal alongside the other Danishes Costco customers are obsessed with. You get two containers of your choice for between $11.99 and $13.61, depending on the Costco location.

The smart way to save Costco's almond Danishes for later

As much as Costco members love the Kirkland Signature almond Danishes, eating all four before they lose their freshness is a tall order. On top of that, there's the number of calories they deliver in each delectable bite. In one pastry you'll get 760 calories, 47 grams of fat, and 33 grams of sugar. Pretty normal for a pastry that size, but it has proven to be too much for some people's tastes. More than one pastry-loving Redditor expressed such a sentiment in the Costco sub.

That hasn't stopped members from buying Kirkland Signature Almond Danishes, though. They're just putting the extras in the freezer until they're ready for another. It's an easy solution that ensures fresh-tasting pastries without forcing you to have almond Danishes for breakfast every morning this week. Members note that the Danishes freeze very well and reheat to a similar quality to their bakery-fresh counterparts. Portion them into a single Danish (or even a half pastry) per zip-close freezer bag.

Technically, it's better to warm them up before you eat them, anyway. The package directions say to oven-heat them for 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and include heating instructions for the air fryer and microwave. Those assume they're defrosted, though.
