If you're already a Costco member, you probably know all about the warehouse chain's reputation for a quality alcohol selection in the Kirkland Signature range. It's actually an open secret that these store-brand spirits are made by outside companies. Wondering who makes Kirkland Signature Blended Scotch Whisky? It's produced by a bottler called Alexander Murray & Co. Ltd. Other options in Costco's alcohol section are also sourced this way, like the bottled Italian mimosa.

This blend of orange juice and sparkling wine (not Champagne) is a convenient find for any brunch or party, and comes from a special collaboration between multiple experts. If you pick up the bottled, bright yellow cocktail and read its label, you'll notice the ready-to-drink mimosa is by Julio Cabrera, but who is he?

Cabrera is a bartender of almost 40 years and a restaurant founder. He opened Cafe La Trova in Miami in 2019 and was inducted into the Bartender Hall of Fame in 2025. Cabrera's partnership with Costco was announced in a 2025 Instagram post. In it, he said he has been a Costco customer for over 15 years and that sharing the Kirkland Signature mimosa with his fellow members "feels like a dream come true."

Why Costco members recommend the Kirkland Signature mimosa

The bottle's label reveals the blend is 6% ABV and features ingredients from across Italy: sparkling wine from Northern Italian winemaker Casa Vinicola Canella S.P.A. and juice from Sicilian blonde oranges. Costco's mimosa is imported by Ethica Wines, which also supplies Kirkland Signature's Barolo red wine and Valdobbiadene Prosecco. Almost 1 million of Costco's Prosecco bottles were recalled in November 2025 because the bottles presented a high risk of shattering. Luckily, there are no such reports for the mimosa, because Costco members are really enjoying it.

At 750 milliliters, the Kirkland Signature mimosa is the same size as a standard wine bottle. It is priced around $9 — a great deal according to shoppers. Although you can buy a bottle of Prosecco and a bottle of orange juice at Costco and make your own, one fan shared on Reddit that the ready-to-drink option "tastes better than [mimosas at] most brunch restaurants," and an entire bottle costs what you would pay for one drink dining out (or less). Other Redditors point out that unless you want more bubbly and less O.J., the Kirkland Signature mimosa is a great buy.
