This Is Hands Down The Worst Chick-Fil-A Breakfast Sandwich
Chick-fil-A fans visit the drive-thru for chicken, waffle fries, and fan-favorite milkshakes alike. But the fast food chain offers a pretty robust morning menu, too. To find out which items are actually worth buying, Mashed contributor Jenny Kellerhals Keogh ranked every Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich from worst to best. Her bottom pick was the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin.
Kellerhals Keogh stressed that the handheld wasn't bad, just lackluster. "There's not enough breakfast sandwich filling to balance the English muffin, which doesn't carry much flavor on its own. I found myself unfulfilled by the lack of comforting deliciousness, not to mention how little actual filling the [sandwich] has," she wrote. Still, she said it's a fine option for picky eaters or folks looking for a lower-calorie Chick-fil-A breakfast item.
The stack of folded egg, American cheese, and smoked applewood bacon is only one of several sammies in Chick-fil-A's breakfast lineup. Protein choices include bacon, sausage, and chicken, and the latter comes either grilled or crispy (with a spicy variation). In addition to English muffins, bread options include waffles and biscuits; there's also one breakfast burrito that uses a tortilla. Kellerhals Keogh named the Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Spicy Filet as her top choice, followed by the Chicken, Egg & Cheese Biscuit.

Hours vary by location, but breakfast runs until 10:30 a.m.
Folks online tend to agree with our reviewer's assessment of this sandwich. "The bacon did add ... nice flavor ... [but] I think this was my least favorite out of all the sandwiches I tried," one Facebook user said in a review. "Chick-fil-A has the worst bacon I've ever tasted ... No fat, no grease, just a dry strip [of] meat with obvious liquid smoke added," one Reddit user theorized. "The egg was spongy and somehow tasteless AND disgusting ... It was the most boring and bland egg sandwich imaginable," wrote another Reddit user in a separate thread.
If you want to try the sandwich anyway, consider these customizations. Trade American cheese for Colby or pepper Jack. Substitute egg whites for folded egg (just know that 43% of participants in a Mashed survey considered the Egg White Grill the worst Chick-fil-A breakfast item). Add sausage, extra bacon, tomato, pickles, cheese sauce, or ketchup. There are also several Chick-fil-A dipping sauces that could elevate this sandwich, from Polynesian to barbecue.
