Other fast food brands may offer more in the way of variety and unique ingredients when it comes to breakfast menus, but Chick-fil-A has something that none of the others can match: an abundance of chicken options — which shouldn't come as a surprise since that's what it's all about. Chick-fil-A's classic filet, spicy filet, and grilled chicken options reach every part of the breakfast sandwich menu, paired with the chain's equally popular biscuits, English muffins, and brand new (as of August 2026) waffle sandwiches.

But chicken isn't all you'll find on the Chick-fil-A breakfast menu. Bacon and sausage breakfast sandwiches are also available alongside the chicken counterparts. While you can mix and match practically all of the ingredients in Chick-fil-A's lineup of breakfast sandwiches, 12 formal options are currently listed on the menu.

To find out which breakfast sandwiches are worth ordering on your next morning trip through the Chick-fil-A drive-thru, we got up extra early to taste them all (and then promptly went back to bed in a breakfast sandwich coma). Breakfast is served at Chick-fil-A from opening, which was at 6:30 a.m. at my local restaurant, until 10:30 a.m. So set your alarm and read on to find out how all 12 Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches rank, from worst to best.

12. Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin

A bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich is about as classic as it gets, so you might be surprised to see Chick-fil-A's version, prepared on an English muffin, at the very bottom of this ranking. It's not that the components themselves are bad — it's that there's not enough breakfast sandwich filling to balance the English muffin, which doesn't carry much flavor on its own. I found myself unfulfilled by the lack of comforting deliciousness, not to mention how little actual filling the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Muffin has.

Perhaps this sandwich is fine if you've got a picky eater, or if you're on the hunt for a lower-calorie breakfast option that doesn't sacrifice too much protein along the way. The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin has 300 calories, with 13 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbohydrates, and 16 grams of protein. With that said, the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin cost me $5.89, which just doesn't seem worth it when comparing this bare-bones breakfast sandwich to most of the others on the breakfast menu.

11. Chicken, Egg & Cheese Muffin

Chick-fil-A's Chicken, Egg & Cheese Muffin is undoubtedly a step up from the Bacon, Egg & Cheese in the filling department, and even gets a little flavor boost from the classic, buttery, fried chicken filet. But generally-speaking, it's just ... fine. Unfortunately, the rather boring English muffin brings the whole satisfaction level of the sandwich down with it.

The Chicken, Egg & Cheese Muffin is automatically made with a classic filet, although if at all possible, I'd encourage you to customize it with a spicy chicken filet if your local restaurant can accommodate it — if only to give a little complexity to the sandwich. Other customizations include Colby Jack or Pepper Jack cheese, egg whites instead of whole eggs, additional bacon and sausage, as well as tomatoes and pickles. A hefty dollop of Garden Herb Ranch sauce, Zesty Buffalo sauce, or even Sweet & Spicy Sriracha sauce would go a long way in helping out this ho-hum breakfast sandwich as well. Chick-fil-A's base Chicken, Egg & Cheese Muffin has 410 calories, with 18 grams of fat, 36 grams of carbohydrates, and 27 grams of protein.

10. Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit

It's amazing how much difference a biscuit can make, especially when it's one of Chick-fil-A's tender and buttery biscuits sandwiching your bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. While the ratio of filling-to-biscuit is still relatively modest in this iteration of the sandwich, it's still notably more satisfying than the English muffin version. It's small, but plenty if you're not in the mood for an especially large breakfast.

The folded eggs take on more of a leading role in this filling, after the biscuit, which makes it a simple but relatable and pleasing breakfast sandwich option. With that said, don't be afraid to boost this biscuit with one of Chick-fil-A's sauces for more flavor, or even double up on the eggs and bacon to make it even more fulfilling. The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit has 420 calories, 23 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, and 15 grams of protein.

9. Sausage, Egg & Cheese Muffin

Of all of the English muffin-based breakfast sandwiches in the lineup thus far, Chick-fil-A's Sausage, Egg & Cheese Muffin packs the most flavor in the category. The sausage patty itself has a somewhat flame-broiled flavor, similar to what you'd find in a Burger King burger patty. Interestingly, the Chick-fil-A sausage patty has the same major ingredients as the McDonald's sausage patty: pork, water, salt, spices, and dextrose — and yet they each have surprisingly different flavors.

The smokier flavor of the Chick-fil-A sausage patty shines through in the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Muffin, which is enough to make it taste like a more substantial breakfast sandwich. The whole folded egg is a nice addition, but I would be just as satisfied with a folded egg white in its place, since the sausage patty is really doing most of the work here. A standard Sausage, Egg & Cheese Muffin has 490 calories, with 32 grams of fat, 29 grams of carbohydrates, and 23 grams of protein.

8. Chicken Biscuit

There's a lot of beauty in a simple breakfast sandwich, assuming the two components it's made with are both delicious on their own. And that's exactly what you'll get with Chick-fil-A's Chicken Biscuit. Yes, it's literally just a classic fried chicken breast on a biscuit, but for many Chick-fil-A purists who love this breakfast item, that may be all you need. The tender, buttery biscuit practically melds together with the slightly salty and crispy chicken filet making this breakfast sandwich easy to enjoy, even if it's not especially complex.

What makes this particular pairing even more appealing is that you don't necessarily have to make it to your local Chick-fil-A by 10:30 a.m. to enjoy one. You could feasibly just order a biscuit and a Chick-fil-A filet off the regular menu and assemble them yourself, any time of the day — which is great news for those of us who prefer to sleep in.

Granted, without any eggs or traditional breakfast meats (like bacon and sausage), this is the least "breakfasty" of the breakfast sandwich options, which entirely comes down to personal preference. The Chicken Biscuit has 460 calories, 23 grams of fat, 45 grams of carbohydrates, and 19 grams of protein.

7. Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Grilled Filet

The Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich is the newest addition to the Chick-fil-A breakfast lineup, hitting menus in August 2026. Each version of the sandwich is made with the chicken of your choosing, strips of bacon, and Classic Syrup (which is a blended maple syrup). Similar in concept to McDonald's McGriddles breakfast sandwiches, which come sandwiched with maple-soaked pancakes, the new Chick-fil-A sandwiches lean heavily on the classic Southern Fried Chicken & Waffles breakfast for its signature appeal.

The waffles themselves are infused with syrup, noticeably smelling like maple the moment you unwrap the sandwich. The salty bacon strips paired with the sweet waffles are an obvious win, although the grilled chicken filet is the weakest of the three options for this sandwich flavor-wise. It's not a deal-breaker, but it just doesn't have the same buttery richness of the fried chicken filet options.

With that said, if you're already a fan of the grilled chicken filet, by all means — try it it with the Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich. There's really no wrong version of this sandwich. The Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with a Grilled Filet has 440 calories, 19 grams of fat, 47 grams of carbohydrates, and 20 grams of protein.

6. Egg White Grill

As you might imagine, Chick-fil-A's Egg White Grill sandwich is the most health-conscious breakfast sandwich option on the menu, with both the lowest calories and highest protein count rolled into one. The sandwich is made with the same English muffin you'll find on other Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches, grilled chicken instead of the original filet, folded egg whites (instead of whole eggs), and a single slice of American cheese.

But aside from the nutritional trade-offs of the Chick-fil-A Egg White Grill, you're likely also wondering if it can hold its own against the rest of the chain's breakfast sandwich menu. I'll admit that almost nothing seemed especially appealing about this sandwich to me before tasting it. The restrained English muffin, the lean grilled chicken filet, the pale and modest egg whites — could one piece of American cheese really carry all the flavor of this breakfast sandwich? But I forgot one important thing: The Chick-fil-A grilled chicken filet is actually delicious. Not only is it well seasoned with spices and citrus, but it's surprisingly juicy.

Presented on the English muffin with folded egg whites, the flavor of the grilled chicken filet actually shines through, almost making you forget about that American cheese slice entirely. This is the breakfast sandwich on the Chick-fil-A menu I'd have no qualms about grabbing on a regular basis, and actually enjoying it, too. An Egg White Grill sandwich has 300 calories, 8 grams of fat, 29 grams of carbohydrates, and 27 grams of protein.

5. Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit

On the opposite end of the spectrum from the Egg White Grill sandwich, the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit has the most calories of any option on the breakfast menu. With that said, those calories absolutely translate to more flavor, with the smoky seasoning of the sausage patty nicely complementing the buttery biscuit it's sitting on. The folded egg and American cheese slice make this an all-around hearty breakfast sandwich that's as traditional as it is tasty. This and a fresh cup of coffee will definitely keep you warm on the chilliest of winter mornings.

My personal preference is to swap out the whole folded egg with the folded egg white, and swap the American cheese slice for a slice of Pepper Jack cheese. Given how rich the sausage and biscuit are, you won't even miss the egg yolk, and a little extra spice from the Pepper Jack cheese makes it all the more interesting in my book. Colby Jack cheese is also available for those who want a little more complexity, without the additional heat. A Chick-fil-A Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit has 620 calories, 42 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, and 22 grams of protein.

4. Spicy Chicken Biscuit

I'm wholeheartedly convinced that any regular fried chicken filet sandwich from Chick-fil-A can be improved by adding a Spicy Chicken filet in place of the original filet — and I say this as someone who is relatively sensitive to spiciness. Spicy chicken might not seem all that appealing first thing in the morning, right after you've brushed your teeth, but trust me when I say: The spice is mild. If anything, just consider it to be a little more seasoning.

Chick-fil-A's Spicy Chicken Biscuit takes the reliable Chicken Biscuit up a notch, with a chicken filet that is more pronounced, and can stand up to the biscuit it's sitting on. While I'd gladly take the Spicy Chicken Biscuit as-is, I'd also consider adding some of Chick-fil-A's Honey Roasted BBQ sauce to this sandwich to play up both the sweet and spicy flavors. It might not be an entirely traditional breakfast sandwich, but it's still classic that's worth enjoying. A Spicy Chicken Biscuit has 450 calories, 22 grams of fat, 44 grams of carbohydrates, and 19 grams of protein.

3. Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Original Filet

Chick-fil-A's new Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Original Filet is presumably the version of this new sandwich that will appeal to the widest audience. The buttery fried chicken filet gets a salty boost from the bacon strips in the sandwich, and perfectly complements the sweet and maple-rich waffle it's sandwiched between. The waffle-to-chicken ratio of this sandwich is just right, with a waffle that appears to have been sliced in half to hold the chicken and bacon — as opposed to two full-thickness waffles (which would definitely be too much "breading").

The new Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwiches are more of an indulgence when compared to some of the other options on the menu, especially the English muffin sandwiches which are more utilitarian in both flavor and nutrition. Luckily, the new breakfast sandwich offerings pack in substantially more flavor, and a welcome amount of comfort and nostalgia, which will likely make them an instant classic. An original filet Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich has 530 calories, with 26 grams of fat, 55 grams of carbohydrates, and 22 grams of protein.

2. Chicken, Egg & Cheese Biscuit

Of all of Chick-fil-A's breakfast sandwiches, the Chicken, Egg & Cheese Biscuit appears to be the largest option in the lineup, packing a classic fried chicken filet, a whole folded egg, and a slice of American cheese into a pillowy soft biscuit. It's everything you love about the chain's biscuits and chicken sandwiches, matched with the egg and cheese you'd expect in a more traditional breakfast sandwich. After all, the fried chicken filet is what sets Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches apart from all of the other fast food sandwiches anyway, right?

The only upgrade I could even recommend to this solidly constructed sandwich is substituting the spicy chicken filet for the classic chicken filet, if your local store can accommodate customizations. Otherwise, a little hot sauce or Zesty Buffalo sauce would take this breakfast sandwich from excellent to outstanding. Chick-fil-A's Chicken, Egg & Cheese Biscuit has 550 calories, 28 grams of fat, 48 grams of carbohydrates, and 27 grams of protein.

1. Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Spicy Filet

The Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Spicy Filet is, without a doubt, the best of what the Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich menu has to offer. It's got the sweet and savory combo that shines with the bacon and original filet version of the sandwich, plus the mild, additional heat of the spicy filet that takes the whole thing to the next level. This particular combination is also not one you'll find at any of the other major fast food competitors, which makes it all the more attractive when rolling through the Chick-fil-A drive-thru.

Like the other versions of the Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwiches, you don't really need the additional Classic Syrup that comes with it. But if you're feeling bold, consider ordering additional hot sauce or Chick-fil-A's Zesty Buffalo sauce to really heat things up.

As you can probably assume, this is one of the heartier sandwiches available on Chick-fil-A's breakfast menu. A Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with a Spicy Filet has 530 calories, with 25 grams of fat, 54 grams of carbohydrates, and 23 grams of protein. While it's not a sandwich I'd reach for on a daily basis, it's an indulgence that's actually worth getting up and out the door for on a Saturday morning before breakfast service ends.

Methodology

To find the absolute best breakfast sandwiches at Chick-fil-A, I ordered and tasted them all side-by-side in one sitting in one location. After an initial ranking, each sandwich was tasted again, comparing it directly with the breakfast sandwiches nearest to it to finalize the standings. The overall flavor and texture of each sandwich was the largest factor in deciding where each ranked, but secondary consideration was also given to the size of the sandwich, followed by overall value for the price.

While customizations are available with most sandwiches, each was ordered, tasted, and ranked as it's currently offered on the breakfast menu. Optional customizations are mentioned where I thought they would be valuable.

Nutritional value was not a main consideration when ranking Chick-fil-A's breakfast sandwiches, although it was noted when a sandwich fell into the highest or lowest caloric and protein columns. Basic nutrition information is included with each sandwich description for those who may be interested in it. All opinions are entirely my own, and in no way sponsored by Chick-fil-A.
