This '90s Doritos Product Might Be Making A Comeback

If you grew up in the 1990s, there's likely a lot that you miss from those simpler times — namely the snacks. There were Dunkaroos that you dipped into sweet vanilla frosting, Gushers that oozed fruity filling when you bit into them, and Pixy Stix, which were essentially just pouring straight sugar down your throat. Plus, who could forget the classic Fruit Roll-Ups (or even better, Fruit by the Foot)?! Cue all the nostalgia.

For the '90s babies among us who crave the snacks of days past, there's some good news headed your way. One of the decade's most popular snacks that has since been discontinued could soon be making a comeback. According to The Takeout, you may once again be able to find 3D Doritos on grocery store shelves in the near future. Prepare yourself for the return of cheesy snack goodness and even cheesier fingertips with the puffed snack that you enjoyed as a child.

You can expect new 3D Dorito flavors with the launch

The Takeout did some sleuthing and, based on an Instagram post by @candyhunting, reports that 3D Doritos will be released on January 18, 2021. We dug even further and confirmed via Frito-Lay's "Mobile Playbook" that this is in fact true. The brand says in its report that 3D Doritos — which were discontinued in the early 2000s — were the number one most requested product on Frito-Lay's consumer contacts.

While the new Doritos appear to look like the puffed triangles of the '90s, this time around, there will be a few differences. Not only does Frito-Lay say that the snack will now be called Doritos 3D Crunch, there will also be two new flavors: Chili Cheese Nacho and Spicy Ranch. (The original 3D Doritos came in Jalapeño Cheddar, Nacho Cheese, and Zesty Ranch.) We know that the release date is January 18, 2021, according to Frito-Lay, but the brand has yet to reveal where Doritos 3D Crunch will be sold, so stay tuned.
