Peet's Coffee Now Has A Fully Vegan Breakfast Sandwich. Here's What You Need To Know

Unlike recent meatless food announcements, we're excited to share a new meat-free drink and entree that vegetarians and vegans can actually eat. Peet's Coffee will be debuting a vegan breakfast sandwich and pairing it with a dairy-free assortment of lattes. The Everything Plant-Based Sandwich is part of the new spring 2021 menu lineup (via PR Newswire). Described by Peet's spokesperson Lori Fulmer, Senior Food R&D Manager, "We are thrilled to join forces with Beyond Meat and JUST Egg to bring Peetniks a delicious breakfast sandwich made with all plant-based ingredients."

The sandwich is served on a thin sliced everything bagel and features a partnership in plant-based tastiness including Beyond Breakfast Sausage®, JUST Egg Folded, and vegan cheddar. The meal will provide 21 grams of protein to those near a Peet's location beginning on March 3, 2021.

Tim Smith, VP of Foodservice Sales of Beyond Meat shares that he's hopeful about this new partnership, "Together, we are increasing accessibility and providing more choice to help meet the growing consumer demand for delicious plant-based options." JUST Egg's co-founder and CEO Josh Tetrick agrees, saying, "Peet's Coffee isn't just satisfied with checking the box on plant-based. They understand the importance [of] delivering a high-quality, delicious offering for their consumer and we couldn't be more thrilled that JUST Egg met their expectations."

And don't forget, this is Peet's — we need to talk about the coffee.

Alongside the vegan sandwich, Peet's is introducing two new non-dairy lattes. The Golden Spice Cold Brew Oat Latte features turmeric, cinnamon sugar, sweet honey, and oat milk and will be available until June 1. Remember for vegans, you can ask to leave out that honey (via Veg News). Also coming this spring is the Horchata Cold Brew Oat Latte, advertised as a "featured menu item" and not listed with an expiration date, this drink contains cinnamon sugar and creamy oat milk. 

Peetniks everywhere are noticeably excited, sharing reviews, "I love how the flavors combined in the Golden Spice Cold Brew Oat latte pair so well together! Besides the Iced Holiday Spice Latte, this my next favorite drink," (via Instagram). Horchata is a longtime favorite flavor and making this drink vegan just adds another layer. Even more, this focus toward plant-based foods is getting noticed. "Thank you Peet's this is the perfect vegan breakfast sandwich! [heart emoji]," shared a grateful eater (via Instagram).
