Trader Joe's Fans Are Loving Its New Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes

Trader Joe's is known for its excellent frozen food offerings, including Customer Choice winner Mandarin Orange Chicken, Italian-style gnocchi, and a wide variety of frozen pizza. Well, this popular section located smack dab in the middle of most stores has a new item in stock that has fans on social media talking.

Popular Trader Joe's fan account @traderjoesobsessed, with nearly 500,000 followers, recently posted, "I'm so excited to review these [siren emoji] New Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes! ... ($2.49; 9/1 ) I've had my fair share of these since I live in Los Angeles and these are legit! I wish there were more green onions but these are still amazing and now I can make them at home!" They go on to recommend keeping them in the freezer to avoid the pancakes sticking to the paper as they thaw out, and to pan-fry them with sesame oil for three to four minutes per side, before adding a recipe for a sauce to use, since the package does not come with any dipping sauce. The post has received more than 10,000 likes and more than 100 comments.

What fans have to say about the green onion pancakes

Followers of @traderjoesobsessed's Instagram post are just as excited. Some chimed in to say that they plan to look for this the next time they are at Trader Joe's, while others have already tried it and shared their enthusiasm, including "YUM," "They are SO GOOD!" and "These are my new fave. Absolutely delicious. Just wish there was more in each package hahaha. So good."

These green onion pancakes also had fans on Reddit talking, with one Redditor posting, "Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes. Review: really really good! Flaky/chewy, great flavor & texture. Fully enjoyed!" Fellow commenters agreed. "I loved these! Soooo amazing!" wrote one, while another commented, "I really liked these — far more than the other scallion pancakes!" referring to Trader Joe's Scallion Pancakes (Pa jeon), which is the Korean version of this dish. Although the two items are similar, the Scallion Pancakes contain other vegetables and a thicker and spongier batter, while the Green Onion Pancakes contain only green onions and a thinner dough that's been rolled and folded to have layers. With both pancake options available, time will tell which will become the true fan favorite.
