How Valerie Bertinelli Really Feels About Her Time As A Jenny Craig Spokesperson

Television personality and celebrity chef Valerie Bertinelli is a person who does not hesitate to take responsibility for her actions. She has been in the spotlight as of late for being outspoken about her thoughts on body shaming, her previous association with weight-loss program Jenny Craig, and her personal evolution. In an emotional Instagram clip, she spoke up against body shaming and how she didn't appreciate being told that she needs to shed some pounds. She urged others to be compassionate and wrote, "We all could use a little more kindness and patience and grace, because we just never know what someone else is going through."

According to TODAY, she has faced backlash from trolls online for being honest about her experiences. In fact, Bertinelli took on a Twitter user who accused her of being a hypocrite, referring to the fact that she was a Jenny Craig spokesperson. They wrote, "...you spent decades telling the rest of us to get thin, shilled weight loss shakes, potions & snake oil & now wanna be a body shaming warrior? You don't get to be a victim when you helped create the problem." But the TV host is having none of it. Here's how she reacted.

Valerie Bertinelli is honest about what she has experienced

Valerie Bertinelli chose not to remain quiet and responded to the troll on Twitter herself. She wrote that she decided to post the clip on Instagram because she was simply releasing her emotions and did not want to repress them or turn to food for comfort. She also said, "Yes, I spent 6 years 'shilling' for Jenny Craig...I have been buying into the diet industry my whole life and then I became part of the problem, so here I am today receiving the karma of my actions."

Bertinelli added that the troll could judge her if they wished to, but "that kind of karma doesn't feel great either." Others have stepped up in support and have stood by Bertinelli during this time. One commenter wrote, "Some folks don't realize that part of being an adult is learning and growing from our past." Another fan urged Bertinelli to continue being honest and to not let the haters get to her.

Even celebrities showed their support for Bertinelli and posted supportive messages. The Pioneer Woman wrote on Instagram, "Beautiful Valerie, you inspire, you encourage, and you make people feel like everything is good and right. You have done this your whole life. You win."
