Among the many recipes trending on the platform, pasta chips certainly spent some time in the spotlight, spawning many variations. Recipe developer Laura Sampson created a recipe for air fryer toasted ravioli, a delicious version of the tasty snack. There are plenty of recipes you can make with air fryers, and Sampson certainly takes advantage of the handy appliance.

Sampson is a food blogger and gardener, passionate about sharing tips and tricks on her blog Little House Big Alaska. As a mother of three boys, she is always on the lookout for creative and quick recipes that taste great. These air fryer toasted ravioli are packed with flavor and a satisfying crunch that will keep everyone eagerly munching. Sampson remarks, "We love to make these ravioli, because they're a fun finger food you can get in a restaurant, but made at home." She likes to serve them as an appetizer, as they are sure to be a definite crowd-pleaser!

Gather the ingredients to prepare air fryer toasted ravioli

Start off by gathering the ingredients needed for this air fryer toasted ravioli recipe. First of all, you'll need the ingredients to make the outer coating for the ravioli. Sampson uses Kraft Parmesan cheese to add a savory touch to the exterior. Parmesan is a good choice since it won't get too gooey as it heats up in the air fryer. Next, you'll want to use panko breadcrumbs mixed with an Italian seasoning blend, garlic granules, salt, and black pepper. Sampson remarks, "I bet you [could] swap [seasoned breadcrumbs] out for the panko and seasonings." Italian seasoning blends usually incorporate oregano, basil, thyme, and rosemary, which pair fantastically with cheesy pasta. However, you could mix it up and try red pepper flakes or cayenne powder for a spicy touch. Sampson adds, "For the garlic granules, you can absolutely swap them out for powder."

Once you have the ingredients for the coating, the rest is straightforward. Look for a package of 24 cheese ravioli in the frozen section of the supermarket. They'll be easier to handle if they're frozen, and you can pop them directly into the air fryer to cook. Vegetable or light olive oil will be required so that the panko breadcrumb coating sticks to the ravioli. Finally, Sampson recommends serving your toasted ravioli with marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.

Preheat the air fryer, and prepare the breadcrumb mixture

First of all, while you start making the breadcrumb mixture for the ravioli, preheat your air fryer to 390 F. If your air fryer reaches the right temperature before you are ready, simply keep the lid closed while you finish preparing the ravioli. In a medium-sized bowl, toss in the Kraft Parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning blend, garlic granules, salt, and black pepper. Mix the contents thoroughly to combine all of the ingredients evenly.

Coat 12 ravioli in breadcrumbs, and place them on a baking sheet

Next, empty the ravioli package into a large bowl and drizzle the oil over the pasta. Give it a good stir so that the ravioli are coated well with oil — this will help the bread crumb mixture actually stick. Now, set out a baking tray and line it with parchment paper. One by one, press each oil coated ravioli into the bread crumb mixture so that it adheres to the exterior of the ravioli. Lightly shake the coated ravioli to remove any excess bread crumbs, then transfer the ravioli to the baking tray.

Transfer the first 12 ravioli to the air fryer, and finish coating the remaining ravioli

Open the lid to the air fryer, and place the 12 ravioli inside. Lightly spritz them with oil so the coating becomes extra crispy. Then, air fry them at 390 F for 10 minutes, flipping the ravioli halfway through the cooking time. As they fry, coat the remaining 12 ravioli with the breadcrumb mixture, following the same process as before. Once the remaining 12 are coated, place the baking sheet into the refrigerator to keep the ravioli chilled.

At this point, the first batch of 12 ravioli should have finished cooking. Remove them from the air fryer, and transfer them to a serving platter. If you can't wait for the second batch to finish, serve them immediately. Otherwise, cover them lightly until all 24 ravioli are ready to serve. Sampson indicates, "I try to tent them loosely with foil to help keep them crispy."

Air fry the second batch, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce

Remove the tray with the second batch of ravioli from the refrigerator, and place them into the air fryer. Cook the ravioli for 10 minutes, again flipping them at the five-minute mark. Once the second batch finishes cooking, remove the ravioli from the air fryer, and transfer them to the platter with the first batch (or the crumbs from the first batch). Sampson suggests to "serve them with your favorite marinara or pizza sauce." Tomato sauce and cheese are always a delicious match, but feel free to experiment with different sauces.

Air fryer toasted ravioli are definitely best enjoyed right after cooking, so you'll want to avoid having any leftovers. It shouldn't be too hard of a task!
