Here's How Many Chick-Fil-A Fans Actually Prefer Pickles On Their Sandwiches

Of all the things on the menu at Chick-fil-A – including juicy chicken nuggets, sizzling hot waffle fries, and tangy lemonade — one of the most popular is the OG chicken sandwich. It's been around since 1964, when it became a staple at the fast food restaurant by accident. According to Chick-fil-A's blog Chicken Wire, the story goes that founder S. Truett Cathy received leftover chicken from a local poultry supplier tasked with providing poultry for an airline. Some of the pieces were too big and ended up in Cathy's hands — and thus, the sandwich was born.

In its most basic form, the classic Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich consists of a breaded chicken breast patty topped with dill pickle slices and nestled between two halves of a toasted, buttered bun. There are tons of ways to customize the sandwich, though, from asking for it dipped in buffalo sauce to topping it with bacon and provolone cheese. But how many people prefer the Chick-fil-A staple as is, a.k.a. with pickles? A recent Reddit poll revealed the truth.

Over half of customers like pickles on Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches

To determine the most popular way of enjoying Chick-fil-A's signature menu item, a Reddit user posted a poll asking people whether or not they prefer their sandwiches with or without pickles. Of the nearly 2,000 Redditors who responded to the survey, over half of them — about 1,100 people — said they do like pickles on their chicken sandwich. Many note that it's the tangy flavor that they enjoy. As one person wrote, "100% needs the pickles in my opinion." And another said, "For me it needs the bright acidic kick to cut the fat." Others add that they like the taste but not the soggy texture so they remove the pickle slices before digging in.

And then there are those who love the pickles so much that they aren't satisfied with the standard two pickle chips that come on the sandwich. (Tip: You can actually ask for extra pickles on the side if you fall in this camp.) "I click that extra pickles button 5X every time I mobile order a sandwich," one person confessed.

There was also this guy — "i just don't like chewing pickles, not sure why, but the acidity goes great with the chicken. personally, i take the pickles, rub them on the buns (to spread the juices), and then throw them." But hey, everyone's got their thing.
