The Truth About Philippe Costa From Holiday Baking Championship Season 8

Aside from the holiday cheer, decorative desserts, and Christmas cookies, we love the Food Network's long-running "Holiday Baking Championship" series because it introduces us to new talents that we can learn from to make our own festive goodies at home. Each participant brings a unique flair to the show, inspiring us to whip up a new holiday treat, or — for those of us who may not be the best at baking — providing motivation to give it a valiant effort.

If you're looking forward to kicking off the upcoming holiday season with the new "Holiday Baking Championship" Season 8, make sure to set a reminder for the official kickoff November 1 at 8 pm ET. The premiere episode is reported to be a double episode that will introduce the 12 new contestants who will first attempt both fall- and winter-themed donuts. It will be a two-hour episode, and there might be an exciting double elimination as well (via The Cinemaholic).

One contestant hoping to avoid eliminations altogether, and who will be competing for the $25,000 grand prize, is home baker Philippe Costa from Seaside, California (via Food Network). Here's all you need to know about him.

Philippe Costa is a private chef with a passion for percussion

Though it may seem like you were just sipping cocoa in your favorite holiday jammies watching the Season 7 finale of this popular show, it is indeed that magical time of year once again to look forward to "Holiday Baking Championship" and learn all about the contestants. According to the Food Network, Philippe Costa dreams of opening his own bakery, which is what he would use the $25,000 grand prize money for, if he were to win the series.

While Costa appears to keep a private online profile, his Facebook page reveals that he currently works at Trader Joe's, is a self-employed "specialty baker," and that he attended South Seattle College where he studied baking and pastry arts. Another fun fact we uncovered about Costa via his Facebook account: He's a musician — specifically, a drummer and percussionist. It would certainly make for great entertainment if he'd tap out a tune or two on the cookware as he bakes a bundt cake

We'll have to stay tuned and see! We look forward to learning more about Costa and hope to be wowed by what he, along with the other 11 contestants, whip up on Season 8 of "Holiday Baking Championship."
