Hershey's New Contest Comes With The Ultimate Hallmark Movie Prize

If we were to ask for a show of hands as to who out there is, or is looking forward to, counting the days until Christmas, we have a feeling that what we would have would be a veritable sea of hands out there, including quite a few that would be waving a favorite 2021 Aldi holiday advent calendar. Others, of course, would be raising a glass of advent beer or a handful of advent-bath fizzies.

We know how much everyone loves a good holiday-facing countdown. And that is why we're guessing that if you're a home baker, you are going to be stoked to learn that Hershey's has announced that it is counting down the next 52 days (until New Year's Eve, actually, but why quibble when a countdown is involved?) with a brand-new baking contest it's holding in partnership with The Hallmark Channel. Dear reader, you won't believe the prize.

So, are you and/or your baked goods ready for their closeup?

Hershey and The Hallmark Channel have joined forces this holiday season to host a brand-new, first-of-its-kind holiday baking contest in which one talented baking aficionado will win a walk-on role in an upcoming Hallmark Channel Original movie — as a baker (via PR Newswire). Because the role is a "walk-on," that means that if you win, you will get to be on set and visible in a scene, but you probably won't have any lines. But doesn't that just sweeten the deal by making it easier? And besides, who knows how to pretend to be a baker better than you?

According to the PR Newswire announcement, the contest started October 1 and will conclude December 31. To enter, all you have to do is whip up one of your baking specialties, using a Hershey's baking product — perhaps Hershey's cocoa or a Hershey's "baking chip product" — take a photo, and submit the photo with the recipe using the digital from you'll find online. There are rules for the competition, of course — you have to be 18 or older and a legal resident of one of the 50 states, among other requirements delineated on the website. And then there is this interesting wrinkle: if you win, you don't have to be in the movie; instead, you can opt to win $5,000. Which prize do you have eyes on?
