TikTok Was Not Impressed With This McDonald's Worker's Drink Secret

If you've ever worked in fast food, you know things aren't always as they seem. If you haven't worked at a fast-food restaurant, you are blissfully unaware until someone posts about it on social media. At that point, dreams are shattered and trust is broken.

We're talking about behind-the-scenes behavior not unlike Rachel's sneeze muffins on "Friends" (via British Vogue) and Penny spitting on Sheldon's hamburger on "The Big Bang Theory" (via Reddit). Fortunately, a lot of these so-called fast-food secrets are a lot less disgusting — hygiene-wise, anyway — than what we see on TV.

However, that doesn't make it any less frustrating for customers who are scammed out of getting their money's worth. And to make matters worse, a lot of these secrets are intentional practices on the restaurant's part. In many cases, you're probably getting less than what you thought you were paying for, so your skepticism is fully warranted.

If your drink doesn't feel full, it probably isn't

One McDonald's employee shook the internet when she posted a video to TikTok showing how they make drinks look full. According to her video, a manager instructed them to shake café drinks so a half-full cup looks full. Although the TikToker captioned the post "especially when it's busy," there's no guarantee your drink won't be only half-filled during slower periods. Viewers were naturally upset over this revelation (via The Daily Dot).

"The same amount of time y'all spend shaking it is the same amount of time you can spend filling it up," one person commented. Another said, "McDonald's has no excuse to be stingy." A third viewer wrote, "You wasted more time because now I'm sitting at the window to make sure my cup is filled up."

The clip garnered over 6.7 million views, so it's pretty safe to say a lot of people will be checking their McDonald's drinks from here on out.
