That Time Ina Garten's Husband Sent A Flirty Text To Another Woman

For some, Disney Pixar's "Up" was the movie that cinched a belief in true love, and even if sometimes there's doubt of whether or not such an unconditional bond exists in real life, there are couples like Ina and Jeffrey Garten to remind us that yes, there is. Food Network host of the "Barefoot Contessa," Ina Garten can't live without cooking or her loving husband of 53 years. The couple first met in 1963 when the celebrity chef was 15 years old, and it didn't take long for their romance to grow and thrive, captivating the world around them.

The cookbook author doesn't shy away from expressing her love for the man she married at a snowy wedding day ceremony and their unweaving desire to be with each other has remained the same. Last October Garten posted a photo of her husband on Instagram and wrote, "I've loved you for more than 50 years and I'm just getting started."

While the couple has been inseparable for over five decades, some may have thought there must be a chip somewhere in their armor of love. Yet, even quarantine didn't affect their marriage much (per Today) and nothing substantial has ever happened to make us feel worried about this cherished couple. On the contrary, something else has occurred that shows the unbreakable trust and affection between the two.

A flirty but innocent text message

While Ina and Jeffrey have been basking in each other's love for a long time, they have to go to different cities and countries due to work, and that's where texting comes in handy. Who knew that it could result in a hilarious texting fail. Ina joined Katie Couric's Instagram Live Series "Happy Hour-ish" to talk about food and recipe questions, among other things. When asked how they stay in touch when they are not together, she responded, "He texts me all the time." She recalls one time when Jeffrey had meant to send her a text, but some other woman received it instead. "It wasn't sext, but it was close," Garten says.

The woman in California who received the message showed it to her husband. "So she, a little jealous I think, showed it to her husband and said, 'Look at the text that Jeffrey sends to his wife.' And he goes, 'Oh nobody sends those texts to their wives. That was for his girlfriend but he was embarrassed to tell you that,'" the kitchen legend recalled the hilarious accident.

It's heartwarming to see this longstanding couple living life to its fullest and cherishing each other's company, all with a sense of humor. Moreover, their decision not to have kids may have stirred some gossip among fans, but has been a contributing factor to the couple having the life and relationship that they do. May they have more joyous and memorable times ahead.
