- Alexa's passion for food storytelling evolved while working as a barista and social media assistant at a local French bakery.
- During her time as a barista, she developed seasonal drink recipes, including the orange cardamom latte (known to customers as the "Alexa Special") that regularly sold out within hours.
- In her free time, she turns her apartment into a pop-up coffee shop for friends, experiments in the kitchen, and ranks Boston's tastiest restaurants.
Experience
Alexa's love for community-driven writing began in 2021 while serving as cultural chair for The Intersectionalist, a student-led, social justice–focused publication, and was cemented when her first article for DigBoston was featured on the newspaper's front page. She served as co-editor-in-chief and head online director of Five Cent Sound, an Emerson College music magazine, where she led over 150 staff members, managed social media and website strategy, and designed two print issues. As a music PR intern at Mystic Sons in London, she wrote press releases while scouting emerging musical talent and producing social media content. Most of her work has centered around providing a platform for up-and-coming musicians and marginalized groups, and she hopes to continue combining her passions for culinary media and community engagement in her writing for Mashed.
Education
Alexa graduated from Emerson College with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
