The 5 Best New Flavors Oreo Has Released So Far In 2026

Hearing the name Oreo probably conjures up that classic image of a black and white cookie sandwich: two twistable round chocolate wafers with a spread of white creme in between. You don't need to go digging through the untold history of Oreos to know the beloved cookies have gone through quite a few iterations since they were first introduced by the Nabisco company in 1912. These days, you can walk into a grocery store and find any number of variations on the shelf, from the beloved Golden Oreos made with vanilla wafers to double-stuffed and green mint creme versions. Multiple flavors were released in 2026 alone.
Whether you call it an identity crisis or a costume change, the Oreo is constantly reinventing itself. In addition to its regular lineup, the company has also been known to drop some, shall we say, experimental limited-edition flavors. Some Oreo editions are certainly better than others, and in 2026, five new varieties of milk's favorite cookie totally stole the show. Read on for the top-reviewed releases of the year so far (Sorry, pickle dessert fans, but those dill-flavored Oreos that started as an April Fools' joke did not make the cut).
Firecracker Pop Oreo
Back in April, just in time for America's big semiquincentennial, Oreo announced it was releasing a limited-edition flavor that was equal parts summertime nostalgia and patriotic celebration. Yes, we're talking about Firecracker Pop Oreos. Inspired by the ice cream truck emblem, the cookies were golden vanilla wafers stuffed with blue raspberry, lemon, and cherry-flavored cremes layered to create a red, white, and blue filling.
Granted, even fans of both treats were skeptical. After all, without the icy chill of a popsicle, how would these fruity flavors translate to a cookie? As it turns out, pretty darn well. "The cremes tasted exactly like Firecracker pops," wrote one reviewer on Reddit. "I was shocked at how closely they were able to duplicate the flavor. Extra credit for the texture as well ...They managed to give these a pleasant, silky mouthfeel." Another Reddit user added that the creme filling was "extra thick," and "honestly tastes pretty close to a rocket pop to me, a bit [of a] lemony aftertaste. Very, very tasty." Here's hoping the brand brings them back for our Fourth of July barbecues next summer.
BTS Brown Sugar Pancake Oreo
K-pop fans were in for a treat (in more ways than one) when Oreo released this limited-edition cookie in partnership with global boy band sensation BTS this past June. The cookies, which are still available to purchase at major retailers as of writing, feature purple-tinted wafers complete with 13 unique embossments to honor the band's 13th anniversary. But it isn't just their appearance that makes these Oreos special. Inspired by the band's childhood memories of dining at Korean food markets, the cookies are finished with a sweet creme filling that nods to the warming flavors of hotteok, a popular street food of crispy pancakes stuffed with brown sugar.
While BTS diehards (or ARMY for those in the know) unsurprisingly make up much of the online hordes singing the purple cookies' praises, they aren't the only ones. Even discerning Oreo aficionados had their interest — and taste buds — piqued. "Knowing nothing about BTS, the decision to purchase these brown sugar pancake-flavored Oreos was based solely on trying a new product," wrote one reviewer in a r/Oreos thread. "Initially, the cookie tastes like half-cooked pancake batter crossed with a slight floral flavor. It's odd and surprising, but in no way is it unpleasant," they continued, noting that the flavor evolves into the "comforting taste of shortbread." In response, another Redditor wrote in the simplest of terms, "Tasted like breakfast. So good."
Chicken & Waffles Oreo
In addition to cookie-fied interpretations of already beloved sweets, Oreo ventured into "meatier" territory this year. As part of a fun brand promotion, the company dropped three unique limited-edition flavors this summer, inviting fans to try them all and vote for their favorite to come back in 2027. The most atypical among them earned its share of high ratings. We are, of course, talking about Chicken and Waffle Oreos.
While such a savory dish may not, at first, seem suited to a sandwich cookie, folks found that Oreo was able to pull it off — and quite well, in fact. As fellow Mashed writer Sam Zwick put it in his review, "The element that keeps this cookie from going full savory is the waffle, and, more specifically, a maple syrup flavor and scent that is the first thing to penetrate your senses." In a thread on r/junkfoodfinds, a Reddit user echoed the prevalence of the maple scent, but confirmed that all in all, Oreo "nailed the flavor" of the Southern-inspired brunch favorite. The dual-layer creme filling pleasantly combines those sweet and savory notes, while the waffle-printed wafers (a nice touch, we might add) introduces a dash of saltiness that evokes a fried chicken essence.
Deep Fried Oreo
Deep-fried Oreos have long been a county fair favorite across the United States, so it was only a matter of time that the company paid homage to itself by riffing on the crispy, crunchy, and delightfully greasy stand-served classic. Deep Fried Oreos' three layers of creme filling essentially create a sandwich within a sandwich, with two gooey dark chocolate layers on either side of a spread of O.G. creme to capture that nostalgic taste of battered fried goodness. And while the center subtly nods to the fried dough of it all, it's those golden wafers on the outside that really complete the "fresh out of the fryer" effect.
One Target shopper wrote, "They do a great job of capturing the flavor of actually deep-fried Oreos without the trip to the fair." Another buyer was impressed by the cookies' consistency: "Whatever they did to the chocolate part of the cream gives it the gooey texture that Oreos get when they are fried! One of the better limited-edition flavors I've had!" Although cookie connoisseurs seem to either love or hate this flavor (one person who commented on Oreo's Instagram called it a "fail"), we're considering it among the best of 2026 given the amount of positive feedback overall.
Banana Pudding Oreo
They're Oreo wafers, but they taste like Nillas? They're filled with creme but taste like pudding? A tropical fruit is involved? Yes. Banana Pudding Oreos — which round out the trio of limited-time promotional flavors — can throw you for a loop, but for fans of the sweet Southern dessert, they're everything one could ask for. Two layers of creme in the center stand in for vanilla and banana pudding, and just like grandma's made-from-scratch version of the real thing, the cookies are Nilla Wafers — well, Oreos inspired by Nilla Wafers, at least.
For the record, this was our reviewer's favorite of the bunch. "I love banana pudding, and this cookie is a dead ringer for the dessert. The flavors flow effortlessly into one another for a cookie that delivers on its name," he wrote. Customer ratings for these Oreos on Target's website have a five-star majority, hinting that Banana Pudding might be Target shoppers' top pick, too. "Sooo good! Taste just like banana pudding. I was expecting a more artificial flavor, but they nailed this one," one buyer recently gushed. The absence of that polarizing artificial banana flavor seems to be a primary point of praise. Considering that actual banana puree is listed among the cookies' ingredients, it's no surprise the real-deal flavor shines through.
