Shoppers Say This New Frozen Sam's Club Snack Is Better Than The Trader Joe's Version

The frozen food section at Sam's Club and Trader Joe's both contain gems that shoppers love. Sometimes they're different versions of essentially the same thing and customers get to compare notes on the two products. Such is the case for a frozen finger food Sam's Club advertised in early October: Member's Mark Buffalo-Style Chicken Crisps. They are triangle-shaped snacks with an outer shell made from wontons, stuffed with a buffalo-style white meat chicken and cheese dip. That description fits one of Trader Joe's frozen snacks as well, the grocer's house-branded Buffalo-Style Chicken Poppers. And reviewers' reactions to the Sam's Club version are a little more positive than the feedback Trader Joe's wonton poppers have received.
Taste testers who tried Trader Joe's chicken poppers seem to have a lackluster response. Food blogger Malinda Rocha reacted to them with merely a shrug. They've received mixed opinions on Reddit, and one Trader Joe's fan blog rated them a 4 out of 10. The online commentary around Member's Mark chicken crisps, however, is glowing. One Instagram reviewer compared them to The Buffalo Blasts at The Cheesecake Factory, noting Sam's Club's version might just be better. "I wasn't sure how these were going to be, but I wanted to try them," wrote one person on Sam's Club's website. "They exceeded my expectations. The crunch is fantastic and everything is seasoned amazing! They taste good quality. I did them in the oven and it didn't take that long."
How to serve Buffalo-style chicken snacks
Sam's Club customer reviews praised Member's Mark Buffalo-Style Chicken Crisps for being chewy, crispy, and flavorful. They have buffalo and ranch-inspired taste with a little bit of a mild kick from cayenne. The only disappointment fans had was the snack didn't have quite enough cheese. Made with cream cheese, reduced fat cheddar cheese, and mozzarella, customers expected more upfront cheese flavor and texture. As one reviewer noted on Instagram, "You get the creaminess, but the cheese itself was more subtle than I expected."
The buffalo chicken wonton crisps at Sam's Club come in a pack of 24 and are advertised as great for game day snacking — similar to the sought-after snack, Totino's Pizza Rolls, and other frozen foods Sam's Club shoppers swear by. The buffalo chicken crisps reheat well in the oven or air fryer and are begging for a dippable pairing. Blue cheese dip, a side of buffalo sauce, or ranch dressing can amplify the tangy, slightly spicy filling. Perhaps a creamy nacho cheese sauce to counteract the more subtle cheese flavor customers warned about. Add a side of raw celery and carrot slices to bring together the usual elements served alongside buffalo-style chicken dishes.
