The Viral Pumpkin-Shaped Pastry That Keeps Selling Out
Pumpkin season is in full swing, but few pumpkin-flavored treats are as adorably pumpkin-shaped as the one going viral from 85°C Bakery Cafe. After a well-received debut in 2025, the brand's seasonal pumpkin bread is back again in 2026 for its fall menu. Social media users can't get enough of the picture-perfect pastry, posting their reviews on both TikTok and Instagram. "It literally tastes like fall," mentioned a popular food content creator on Instagram.
The fluffy bread bun also looks just like fall. It's a replica of a mini orange pumpkin, complete with an edible chocolate stem. Inside, it's filled with a creamy pumpkin puree one TikTok reviewer compared to pumpkin pie. Although the bakery doesn't explicitly call it a pumpkin-spice flavor, it does have two of the spices used in typical pumpkin spice flavoring: cinnamon and ginger. The puree also contains cardamom, giving the filling an even warmer, aromatic flavor.
With its Instagrammable looks and delicious taste, the popularity of 85°C Bakery Cafe's pumpkin bread has been intense, with some social media users reporting it sells out fast, often 30 minutes after opening. "This year, we doubled our quantities, and people have been rushing to the stores to get them," said David Lazaro, 85°C Bakery Cafe's marketing director (via Bake).
The pumpkin bread is a custom, limited-time item
Although the bread is made in small batches, it's not quite as labor-intensive as other pumpkin treats shaped with butcher's twine, like these viral TikTok pizza bomb pumpkins. 85°C Bakery Cafe's pumpkin bread was actually created with a custom mold instead (via Bake). Clearly, the bakery is serious about making sure every pumpkin looks identical.
If you want to try the viral pumpkin-shaped pastry yourself, you'll have to act fast to keep up with demand — and its seasonal availability. 85°C Bakery Cafe's pumpkin menu is only available through Thanksgiving. While 85°C Bakery Cafe opened its first store in Taipei, Taiwan, the brand has over 1,000 stores worldwide across Australia, China, the U.S., and Cambodia. Its U.S. locations, however, are limited to Arizona, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Lousiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
Prices vary by location, but TikTok users report the pumpkin bread costs around $2.35. At a price like that, it's no wonder they're selling like hotcakes (or hot pumpkins?). If they're sold out, you may need to wait until next year to try the bread. But if you're craving something pumpkin right now, you could try your hand at our pumpkin bread recipe or these pumpkin-shaped Rice Krispies treats or break out the butcher's twine and turn cinnamon rolls into pumpkins.
