One Of The Best New Fast Food Items Of 2026 Is This Versatile And Creamy McDonald's Sauce
McDonald's limited-edition Bacon Caesar McCrispy and Caesar Snack Wrap were definitely two of the best new fast food items of July 2026, but it was the sauce they shared that really made an impression. The chain's new Caesar sauce is a creamy, Parmesan-forward blend with a hint of garlic and lemon, and customers loved what that combination brought to a variety of McDonald's menu items.
One reviewer on TikTok called it one of the better things to come from McDonald's in quite some time, saying it made them actually like the McCrispy a lot more, and that the restaurant should make the sauce a permanent menu item. Another reviewer on Facebook enjoyed how the umami and mustardy notes in the sauce elevated their snack wrap. On Reddit, one user enjoyed it with their fries and another loved them with their nuggets.
The one catch to all this is that you may have missed your window to try it if you haven't yet. The Caesar sauce was announced as a limited-time item back in July, but there was no clear end date for the period it would be available. It's possible that some locations still have it, but it's currently no longer available on the McDonald's U.S. website. Until the chain decides to go for another round, it's looking like the Caesar sauce is going on the list of fast food menu items we wish would make a comeback.
This isn't the first time McDonald's has had the Caesar flavor in America
The Caesar sauce may be new to the U.S. market in 2026, but Caesar flavor itself has shown up at McDonald's at different points throughout the last five decades. It first popped up on McDonald's menus in the 1980s, when Tangy Caesar was a dressing option for the fast food giant's new salad offerings. When McDonald's tried to revitalize interest in its salads in 2000 with its McSalad Shakers, it had Grilled Chicken Caesar as one of the three flavors. After the McSalad Shakers were discontinued in 2003, the chain continued to offer greens under its Premium Salads line, with Newman's Own supplying a variety of dressings, including Caesar.
Although McDonald's officially stopped making salads in 2020, participating franchises in 2022 were allowed to sell the Caesar Salad with Chicken and Bacon, which came with a packet of Newman's Own Creamy Caesar dressing. The formulation of the new Caesar sauce at McDonald's, however, is significantly different from the Newman's Own dressing.
While the Newman's Own recipe is more egg-forward and uses Worcestershire sauce for acidity, McDonald's 2026 Caesar sauce leans more heavily into Parmesan cheese and distilled vinegar. The new Caesar sauce is also less proportionately salty per calorie, with a 120-calorie serving containing about 150 milligrams of sodium; Newman's Own Creamy Caesar packs 350 milligrams of sodium into a 130-calorie serving.
