Oreo Asked Twitter For New Flavor Suggestions And The Responses Are Hilarious

Walk down the cookie aisle at any grocery store and you're likely going to find an entire section dedicated solely to Oreos. The iconic chocolate sandwich cookie has been around since 1912, and has grown into an international sweet treat empire. According to a press release last year, Mondelēz International — the company that now owns the cookie franchise — sells some 92 million Oreos every single day.

While Oreo started out as the traditional chocolate wafer cookies with a cream filling, they now come in a massive variety of flavors. To start, there are Golden Oreos, with vanilla cookies instead of chocolate, and Golden Chocolate Oreos, which are like a reverse Oreo with chocolate cream instead of vanilla. The flavors get more specific and more seasonal from there, with picks like S'mores, Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint, Carrot Cake, and Peeps. There are also tons of limited-edition flavors, like Strawberry Frosted Donut or Salted Caramel Brownie. As for what flavor is coming next? Oreo recently tweeted asking fans to pitch their ideas — and here are some of the wildest suggestions.

A lot of people want Pumpkin Pie

Determining the newest Oreo flavor is no easy feat. To get the help of those who love the cookies, on October 25, Oreo tweeted, "What OREO Cookie flavor should we make next...?" The tweet garnered more than 2,000 likes, with plenty of fans chiming in with their opinions of what Oreo flavor should hit stores next. One of the most popular responses was pumpkin pie, which Twitter users said is not the same as the previously released Pumpkin Spice Oreos. Other serious contenders? Cotton candy, egg nog, cheesecake, orange creamsicle, and pecan pie.

However, some of the responses probably won't make it, like grass, buffalo wings, spaghetti, or "no filling" (the horror!). One person even suggested sauerkraut, which sounds pretty disgusting in our book. Velveeta also got in on the action, recommending a mac and cheese flavored cookie — hey, if it works for ice cream...

As for which flavor Oreo will actually release next? The brand remains tight-lipped, so we'll just have to keep our eyes on those cookie aisle shelves.
