Ree Drummond Is Praising Her Son-In-Law's Sweet Gesture

"The Pioneer Woman" Ree Drummond isn't shy about sharing moments with her family on her Food Network show or on her social media channels. Fans of the 52-year-old cooking show host love glimpses into family life on the Drummond Ranch in Pawhuska, Okla., where Ree films "The Pioneer Woman."

Drummond's November 29 Instagram post is a good example. Garnering more than 98,000 likes was a photo of Ree and her son-in-law, Mauricio Scott. Scott, fans may remember, married Ree and Ladd Drummond's eldest daughter, Alex, in May, an event that inspired a "Ranch Wedding" special on The Food Network.

The sweet snap of Drummond and Scott was taken as the pair, bundled up in warm coats, left a football game of one of her sons, with Mauricio carrying a big black bag. Alongside the photo, Ree wrote, "Find the kind of a son-in-law who carries your purse to the truck after a big game. It was packed full of cowbells and I guess he could tell I was struggling."

If you're scratching your head about the last part, you're not alone. We did some digging and found that cowbell-ringing is part of the football tradition at Mississippi State University, according to Bleacher Report. Apparently, the noisemakers have also been adopted by fans of this high school football team. (It's a bit of a culture shock to those of us whose purses are more likely to contain snacks.)

Mauricio has won over The Pioneer Woman's fans

An Instagram photo of Alex Drummond Scott's new husband Mauricio Scott carrying mother-in-law Ree Drummond's bag elicited a collective "Awwww" from The Pioneer Woman's Instagram fans. Heart emojis abounded, as did comments like "Definitely a keeper!" and "He's the best!"

One fan wrote, "Mauricio is such a nice guy. His personality shines through on your show. Alex chose well." Another said, "Wow...need muscle to carry that bag!! Lol...whatta nice guy!" Still another commented, "He just knows how lucky he is to have Ree Drummond for a mother-in-law."

A few teased Ree about the vessel she called her "purse:" "Looks like my wife's own suitcase!!," one fan commented. "That's not a purse. It's a small duffel," said another.

Some of Ree's fans love Maurico's chivalry: "I vote for any man who will carry a woman's purse especially full of cowbells," commented one. Others said Mauricio is truly a match for the whole Drummond clan: "Now you know for sure you are family. It is the greatest feeling to see you [sic] daughters marry a match for everyone." Another fan wrote: "Excellent addition to the family!!!"

Our favorite comments, however, were of the "I need more cowbell!" variety, a callback to the classic Will Ferrell "Saturday Night Live" sketch. Maybe Ree can share some of hers.
