  • Whenever she visits New Orleans, Mary enjoys dining at some of the city's most famous restaurants, including Drago's, Cafe Maspero, Mother's, and the Palace Cafe.

Experience

Mary is an experienced communication professional with a passion for all things food and cooking. She's been a food and cooking writer for more than 15 years. Mary started her career in advertising and public relations, which involved a lot of food-related writing, marketing, and event planning, then transitioned into higher education and later became a small business owner. She never lost her passion for writing — especially about food — so she continues to write professionally. Mary began accepting freelance writing assignments in 2007 and always has at least a few articles or writing projects in progress. She has written for LoveToKnow Media, Demand Media, and many other sites and clients, including educational publishers. When she's not growing or cooking food, Mary teaches communication classes at a community college and operates a small corporate training and consulting business.

Education

Mary has a Master of Arts in Communication from Auburn University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication from Spring Hill College. She has also completed extensive post-graduate work in Instructional Design and Development and holds multiple certifications related to human resource management, talent development, and higher education.
