  • Michael is a consummate foodie who has interviewed the owners of several restaurants in LA and the Bay Area.
  • He loves exploring the incredible Asian and Mexican food around him in Southern California and is pleased to live steps away from LA's Thai Town.
  • Michael is also a burger and steak enthusiast who could talk about Shake Shack endlessly.

Michael has always loved puttering around in the kitchen, particularly finding new varieties of cooking rice and beans. He began his journalism career writing for high school and college newspapers. In 2018, he was named associate editor of the Jewish Journal, which covers the Jewish community north of Boston. In 2020, just as the pandemic revved into high gear, he accepted a position at Patch reporting the local news of Beverly Hills, Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, and Northridge, also known as their "rich and famous beat." He also contributed articles to The Beverly Hills Courier. At Patch, he has also reported on local news about cities nationwide and statewide stories, like surging gas prices and the Gabby Petito story. Two of his stories — features on travel and adventure — received Best of Patch Awards. He now reports the local news of the Tri-Valley, a collection of cities east of San Francisco. Through his work at Patch and The Jewish Journal, he has interviewed different restaurant owners and food personalities, including the Brass sisters of PBS fame.

Michael received a bachelor's in sociology from Bard College, and master's in teaching French as a foreign language from New York University.
