Here's How You Can Reheat Pizza Using A Waffle Iron
Everyone has their own opinion on the best way to eat leftover pizza. Some people insist that it's better cold. Others swear by the skillet method. Dominos says you should microwave it with a cup of water — a method that definitely has its advantages if you're in a hurry. If you want to bring your reheating game to the next level though, you might want to consider trying the waffle iron method. With just a drizzle of olive oil and a few minutes, your waffled pizza will be ready to go.
According to Lifehacker, the best way to waffle your pizza is to stick two slices of pizza together with the cheesy sides facing in, adding any extra cheese or additional toppings you want between the two slices. Brush the outside of your pizza sandwich with a little bit of olive oil, and place the whole thing in a waffle iron. Then, press down and check your pizza sandwich every half minute or so until it's perfectly crispy, warm, and melty.
Don't want two slices of pizza? Try the fold method
What if you prefer a smaller sandwich or if your waffle iron doesn't have room for a whole slice? Then you might want to try the fold method instead. Serious Eats suggests folding your pizza slice almost in half by bringing the tip up to one of the outer corners of the crust. Some pizza will be sticking out to the side uncovered — cut this off with a pizza cutter (and enjoy as a cold, mid-reheating snack). Repeat the process with another slice if you want, and place the folded triangles into your hot waffle iron. Press down and wait, after about five minutes your waffled pizza pockets should be ready to eat.
If you want to get a little more adventurous, you can always try making pizza waffles from scratch. Just roll out your dough; place it in the iron; add marinara, cheese, and any toppings you want; cover this all with another layer of dough; close the iron; trim the excess dough from the sides; and cook for five to seven minutes.
