The rumors are true: Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. And, it's all too tempting to call a brick-like energy bar and a giant cold brew breakfast. Whatever happened to savoring breakfast, instead of just rushing through it? You don't have to make a three-course meal every morning, but, you should take the very first meal of the day more seriously, and there's no better place to start than Costco.

Everyone's favorite wholesale warehouse is home to some of the most delicious, nutritious, breakfast foods you can find — and all for a fraction of the price. We combed through Costco's impressive inventory to find the breakfast foods that use truly high-quality ingredients. There are familiar favorites, like organic oatmeal and mini gluten-free frozen frittatas, but there are expected stand-outs too, like decadent danishes and surprisingly refreshing Mimosas.

We all know that Costco is a great place to buy kitchen staples, like coffee and bacon, in bulk. But we didn't expect it to be the solution to boring, predictable breakfasts. Read on to see which Costco breakfast foods are nutritious, convenient, and delicious.

Kirkland Signature Organic Ancient Grain Granola

If Ancient Grain Granola sounds like something a caveman would nosh on in between inventing fire and the wheel, you're not far off. Made with organic spelt, quinoa, amaranth, and Khorasan wheat, ancient grains "are largely unchanged over the last several hundred years," according to the Whole Grains Council. And, miraculously, these edible artifacts have made their way onto the shelves of your local Costco.

Still, the word "grain" doesn't exactly excite the taste buds. What makes Kirkland Signature's Ancient Grains Granola worth buying is the combination of grains that creates such a hearty, wholesome granola. Spelt is softly sweet, which counteracts nicely with amaranth's earthy flavor. And, while Khorasan wheat is often described as "buttery," quinoa is mild. Don't be fooled with quinoa's seeming simplicity, however: It's packed with protein.

Kirkland Signature's Ancient Grain Granola is the definition of "all natural." It contains USDA Organic granola and probiotic cultures, which basically means both your immune system and your digestive system will thank you for eating it. Whether mixed with yogurt, sprinkled atop fruit salad, or gobbled down by the handful, this granola's high-quality ingredients make it a pantry staple.

Bob's Red Mill Organic Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats

Perhaps Bob's Red Mill's greatest achievement is that it has inspired us to speak at length about oats — and to do so with genuine enthusiasm. Unlike generic brands, which tend to be ultra-processed and therefore not-great-for-your-body, Bob's Red Mill Organic Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats are USDA organic, non-GMO, and 100% whole grain. Customers can trust that their morning bowl of oats are not only filling, but a rich source of fiber.

If you don't think these oats are high-quality, maybe Bob himself can convince you. According to the company's website, "Quality assurance is involved in one way or another in all processes, from development to distribution." Consider us reassured. In fact, some customers say you can even taste the high-quality nature in every individual oat!

We know they're the real deal because real customers vouch for them. "It is my go to breakfast most mornings," one reviewer wrote. "They are easy to cook and are finished while my coffee is brewing. I love the texture and the flavor." When was the last time someone said they loved the texture and flavor of steel-cut oats? Never, that's when.

Veggies Made Great Spinach Egg White Frittatas

Imagine a cupcake-sized frittata that's fluffy, airy, and somehow, still packed with flavor. This is what customers say you get with Veggies Made Great's frozen, pre-packaged version of the Spinach Egg White frittata. "I follow a Keto lifestyle and this has all the protein (and low carbs) for a good breakfast," one reviewer said. "Just pop one in the air fryer and it is done in 16 min – while getting ready for my day."

This Keto fan is right: Veggies Made Great's low-calorie, allergy-friendly, and gluten-free version of a classic frittata prioritizes clean ingredients for those of us who like to keep breakfast light. Just because this frittata has healthy, high-quality ingredients doesn't mean it skimps on flavor. The brand name alone speaks for itself, with veggies playing the lead role in the frittata's flavor profile (next to those cage-free eggs, of course). This meal is also surprisingly versatile; one reviewer recommends stacking two mini frittatas onto a slice of toasted sourdough for a more filling, and even more nutritious, breakfast.

Now, some customers say that Veggies Made Great's Spinach Egg White Frittatas are no longer available in-store, only online. But that's all the more reason to order a couple boxes the next time you find yourself on Costco's website.

Seven Sundays Real Cocoa Sunflower Cereal

Seven Sundays is known for its dedicated approach to clean ingredients, which goes so far as to make cereal out of sunflower seeds, coconut sugar, and California Medjool dates. This doesn't sound like a recipe for deliciousness, but Seven Sundays' dedication to authentic ingredients definitely helps. "Our sunflower cereal has nothing but real food in it — no magic, no tricks, no kuckoo," Seven Sundays says on its website

You might not jump at the chance to swallow a spoonful of chocolatey sunflower seeds, but, trust us: Seven Sundays' Real Cocoa Sunflower Cereal is much tastier than it sounds. It looks like any other puffed corn cereal, but is actually made of puffed sunflower seeds and sweetened with chocolate. Don't expect a cocoa puff taste, but something wholly complex and wholesome.

There's really no wrong way to enjoy this cereal. "My favorite," one reviewer wrote on the company's site. "Mixed with yogurt and fresh berries makes a delicious breakfast." Nothing beats eating this cereal the old fashioned way, of course. "Perfect level of sweetness, the crunchiness is on point. This is a staple of our household," another customer said. The fact that we ranked this to be one of the best gluten-free cereal options makes it even better.

Kirkland Signature Danish

Kirkland Signature is considered to be the most high-quality (not to mention best-value) brand at Costco, and its take on the breakfast danish is similarly lauded. This is an example of a high-quality product that definitely won't make it onto a nutritionist's list of go-to breakfast foods. Yes, Kirkland Signature's Mix & Match danishes pack on the calories, but they're a decadent, fan-favorite thanks to their buttery pastry dough and fresh fruit. Who said "high-quality" only had to refer to healthy ingredients, anyway?

Kirkland Signature's danishes are a rarity in the pastry world: They're consistent. These soft, fluffy danishes are reliably sweet, filling, and, well, irresistible — you can't leave the warehouse without putting some in your cart. Still, if we're talking impressive ingredients, Kirkland Signature's danishes shouldn't be overlooked. Depending on the location and the season, you can find these danishes in all kinds of flavors, from cherry and almond to guava.

The ingredients themselves usually aren't made from scratch in-store, but some say the dough is proofed and fruit filling prepared right in Costco's bakery. "I bought it once and it was gone within two days," one Redditor said of the cherry variety. "Those danishes are so good I refuse to buy them again. Too dangerous," according to another happy (and frightened?) Redditor. When a pastry inspires both adoration and fear, you know it's worth trying.

Mayorga Café Cubano Roast

Mayorga Café is considered by some (AKA, the die-hard coffee connoisseurs of Reddit) to be one of the more high-quality coffee brands sold at the warehouse. A big reason for this is, unsurprisingly, the coffee beans, which are USDA Certified Organic, OU Kosher, and largely allergen-free.

A lot of passion goes into those coffee beans, according to Mayorga Café: "From our farmers to our roasters and production staff, we are all committed to not just protecting, but enhancing the quality of all our products, through every step of the process." Customers say you can taste this high-quality process in every cup of Cubano Dark Roast. This Signature Blend is third-party tested for mold and mycotoxins, which means it's trustworthy in addition to just well-made. "It's excellent as always," one reviewer said on Mayorga Café's site. "But what I like best about your products is consistency. I can always rely on the level of quality."

When you discover truly great coffee, you can never go back. So when you spot that deep-yellow packaging on Costco's shelves, you may want to toss it into your cart. And, if you want to make the most of your coffee beans, consider following these tips for buying coffee beans in bulk.

Kirkland Signature Cranberry Walnut Round Bread

Nothing elevates breakfast quite like this Kirkland Signature bread. Melted butter on wheat is a classic, but add the bright pop of cranberry and the woody crunch of walnuts, and you have something truly worth waking up early for. This artisan-style loaf is a frequent fan-favorite because of its premium, whole-wheat ingredients and unique flavoring. It's a homemade, hand-scored, upscale approach to a simple toast breakfast. Or, to put it more simply: "It is pure crack," as one Redditor said.

This person highlighted one of the bread's best qualities: Its versatility. "Toasted with butter and honey. Or just plain straight out of the bag. [It's] my favorite product out of the bakery." Another Redditor recommends a savory recipe. "Slice, spread with pesto, add sliced rotisserie chicken, add cheese and press like a panini. Soooooo good!"

When it comes to Kirkland Signature's Cranberry Walnut Round Bread, we know what we're talking about. Mashed has long praised this autumnal loaf; it topped our ranking of Costco Bakery's best breads in 2024, and Mashed once again waxed poetic about the cranberry walnut round bread last year. This seasonal item only seems to come around once a year, which not only makes it a fan favorite, but a rare one at that.

Uncle Matt's Organic Orange Juice, Pulp Free

You know truly high-quality orange juice when you taste it. Uncle Matt is a real expert: This Organic OJ is refreshingly tart and tastes like you just took a bite out of a juicy orange. "It has a remarkably clean, crisp flavor that tastes like actual fruit rather than a highly processed drink from concentrate," one Amazon reviewer said.

Considered one of the most high-quality OJ offerings at Costco, Uncle Matt's Organic Orange Juice prides itself on using just one ingredient. It doesn't get more natural than that, which is certainly some people's definition of "high quality." The juice is USDA Organic with no added sugar, and it's suitable for both vegan and Kosher diets. So it's not only a well-made orange juice, but an accessible one, too.

If your definition of "high-quality" does not include unpronounceable chemicals, then you're in luck, because Uncle Matt's describes itself as "the first juice company in the world to be certified Glyphosate Residue Free by the Detox Project." The brand's commitment to organic ingredients is unique enough; the fact that you can find this high-quality orange juice right in your local Costco officially makes it a can't-miss product.

Kirkland Signature Thick Sliced Bacon

There's nothing like the smell of sizzling bacon on the griddle, and some say that Kirkland Signature does it best. Kirkland Signature Thick Sliced bacon may not be as luxurious as, say, Coleman Natural Uncured Bacon (another beloved Costco product), but it's by far the most highly-rated bacon widely available at most Costcos. But, what, exactly, makes this specific brand so high-quality?

Rumor has it that Kirkland Signature's bacon is supplied by — drum roll please — Smithfield Farms, a premium brand that also happens to partner with Nathan's, Garando, and Kretschmar (names any bacon lover probably knows by heart). If this rumor is true, then it means Costco is selling a premium product at more affordable prices. And, yes: The bacon really is that thick, according to awed customers. "I don't think I've seen store bought bacon sliced that thick before," one reviewer said on Reddit. "Gonna add that to my shopping list."

Okay, so this thick-sliced bacon probably won't get an "A" rating from a cardiologist. But as any breakfast-lover knows, truly great bacon can't be missed. And Kirkland Signature's bacon, it's safe to say, is the definition of "great": Thick-sliced and heavily marbled, this bacon is worth the time it takes to sizzle to perfection. "I have always had great luck with their bacon," one Redditor said of Kirkland Signature.

Belgian Boys Mini Pancakes

When you think about breakfast foods for kids, sugary cereals with cartoon mascots probably come to mind. It makes sense: They're quick and easy alternatives to full-course breakfasts, and are basically picky-eater-proof. Belgian Boys Mini Pancakes check the same boxes, so they're already a win, but the fact that they're made with clean, preservative-free ingredients makes them truly high quality.

The real headline here isn't just that Belgian Boys Mini Pancakes are made from simple, high-quality ingredients. It's that the company manages to use all-natural ingredients while honoring the founders' Belgian roots. "Good food should taste good, and our recipes stay true to tradition," according to the company's website. This approach seems to be working, judging by the scores of happy customers.

"My child wanted to try them so I did. We went back maybe 3 times because they're that good!" one Redditor said. Repeat purchases are basically as close to "five stars" as it gets for kids. Another Redditor praised Belgian Boys Mini Pancakes as breakfast go-tos for little ones: "Both my kids love these. And total time savers." For parents, the fact that kids love these fluffy little pancakes is already a win. Add in that they're portable, nut-free, and microwavable, and you get a parenting slam dunk.

Kirkland Signature Deli Quiche Lorraine

If we have an opportunity to talk about Costco's iteration of a classic Quiche Lorraine, you bet we're going to take it. Kirkland Signature's Quiche Lorraine is deceptively simple. Consider a standard slice of Quiche Lorraine, which is typically lightweight and crumbly with melted cheese and fragrant onions. Kirkland Signature's take on the brunch classic is the definition of "more": It's cheesier, creamier, and eggier, which means it's also heftier. This quiche is not meant for a dainty tea party, but for a true, all-American, family-style brunch.

Costco's Quiche Lorraine, which is cradled in a flaky pie crust, doesn't need to use the fanciest ingredients to be a decadent fan-favorite. It's between 3-4 pounds of ham, onions, and bacon, complete with a generous sprinkling (more like a deluge) of cheese on top. It's the type of quiche you find yourself craving over your typical breakfast of burnt toast and black coffee. One Costco customer on Reddit said they served this quiche to a crowd of 8, to much acclaim. "Everyone loved it," they said. "Will buy again."

You're probably thinking, "Wait — this sounds delicious and all, but how are these ingredients high-quality?" Costco's Quiche Lorraine may not be made with premium cheese or award-winning eggs, but it's still among the more high-quality breakfast products you can find at Costco thanks to its wholesome, savory ingredients.

Kirkland Signature Mimosa

Wine snobs may take offense to this item being on the list. But, when it comes to Kirkland Signature's wines, expect the unexpected. There's a famous mixologist and a high-profile medal to back up this mimosa's brilliance. The most surprising part? You can bring this award-winning mimosa into your home for just $9. Who knew a pre-mixed Costco cocktail could be so good?

Well, a lot of people did. Kirkland Signature is no stranger to producing high-quality wines and cocktails; Wine Enthusiast writer-at-large Danielle Callegari once praised Kirkland's wines, calling them "some of the best bottles you can get at retail, bar none." The praise hasn't ebbed for Kirkland Signature's take on our favorite boozy breakfast beverage, the Mimosa. "Tastes better than most brunch restaurants, plus you get an entire bottle for the cost of one glass!" one reviewer wrote on Reddit. "Something about the oranges they use in this mix just makes me happy. Honestly the alcohol content is just a bonus from my perspective, not the main attraction."

The Mimosa's bright, welcoming hue and orange-forward flavor is due in part to mixologist Julio Cabrera, who helped develop the beverage. This pre-made cocktail has also earned a 90-point Gold Medal from Tastings. Still not convinced that a $9 Mimosa can be exceptional? Even Costco's employees are spreading the word. "I bought this yesterday and the cashier raved about how good it is," one Redditor wrote.

Methodology

My definition of "high-quality" runs the gamut, but for the sake of this list, I've narrowed it down to two meanings: Healthy ingredients, and just-plain-tasty. So even though some items aren't exactly healthy, they're all considered to be tasty breakfast options by customer reviews.

It's not always easy to definitively name the most high-quality breakfast items at Costco, because not every warehouse carries the same products. The best frozen breakfast sandwich at one Costco is only second-best at the next. This is why I tried to include items that are largely available at most locations. Since Kirkland Signature is Costco's exclusive private-label name, it's the most widely available, which is reflected in the items chosen for this list.

As I said, I combed through Costco's customer reviews, Amazon reviews, and forums, like Reddit, to hear what real customers had to say about the taste, texture, and construction of these foods. When applicable, I visited the websites of individual brands on this list to learn more about what "high-quality" means to them, and included their unique definitions.
