The best part about Culver's, aside from the farm-fresh, house-made custard, is the fact that it actually has a variety of sandwiches that aren't just mix-and-match versions of the same five ingredients. You can pick up a sandwich stuffed with beef pot roast or fried pork loin, or just get a simple grilled cheese. Or you can grab a Reuben, which Culver's fans say is the secret star of the show.

Culver's grilled Reuben melt is a corned beef Reuben (as opposed to pastrami) that layers slow-cooked meat, melty Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing between two slices of toasted and buttered plain rye bread. The sandwich costs roughly the same amount as the chain's double ButterBurger, but apparently is just as good, if not better.

Users on Reddit call Culver's Reuben the "Best Reuben anywhere" and "One of their best items." One deems the sandwich the "most slept-on menu item," while another says "the corned beef really is top-notch." A few had recommendations, including adding more sauerkraut and meat or swapping the rye for sourdough or even a hoagie.

To find a fast-food Reuben, you have to hunt for it. Culver's doesn't have locations in every state, nor do any of the fast-food chains that serve Reubens. The Wisconsin Swiss Melt outperforms Culver's other burgers with beef patties, Swiss cheese, and onions sandwiched between the same buttered rye as the Reuben. One of the chain's more surprising secrets isn't cooked in the kitchen at all — Culver's actually has its own brand of root beer.
