With the rapid rate at which fast food prices are increasing in 2026, it's no wonder quick-service chains are finding ways to boost their menus' appeal. Fast food chains have made plenty of changes to keep customers interested, including the addition of tasty new cheeseburgers that are worth the buy. These burgers, many of which are limited-time offers, have been praised by social media users for their inventiveness, ingredient quality, and straight-up satisfying deliciousness.

While criteria for the best cheeseburger is arguably subjective, many would agree that a good fast food burger is made with fresh, never-frozen beef, has a soft bun that's properly toasted, and has toppings and condiments that add to the flavor without overwhelming it. Also, if the bun-to-beef ratio is off, you'll be left with a mouthful of bread or messy burger that's hard to eat. Fortunately, this year, there are loads of burgers that seem to meet all these criteria and more.

Burger King Peppercorn BLT Whopper

Burger King debuted its Peppercorn BLT Whopper in March 2026 as a limited-time cheeseburger inspired by fan suggestions from its "Whopper By You" platform, an interactive website encouraging customers to submit ideas that could potentially turn into actual menu offerings. The Peppercorn Whopper consisted of a flame-broiled quarter-pound burger patty, peppercorn aioli, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato on the standard Whopper sesame seed bun.

One Redditor who tried it said, "it slapped, as the kids say," with another person describing it as "One of the better things I've had in Fast Food in a minute. That [aioli] is doing a lot of heavy lifting." The price was around $8 for the burger alone, which is pretty standard these days, but might seem like a lot for just the sandwich and not a full meal.

Culver's Fried Pickle Pub Burger

Another limited-time fast food cheeseburger, Culver's Fried Pickle Pub Burger was available from August through September 2026 for around $7 for a single-patty burger. According to the iconic Midwest chain's press release, the fried pickle burger was inspired by Wisconsin's pub and supper-club flavors and consists of a fresh, never-frozen beef patty, cheddar cheese, crispy fried pickles, and a tangy sauce on a pillowy pretzel bun. To the dismay of some Redditors in the Culver's subreddit, this tangy pub cheeseburger sold out far too fast at some locations. Luckily, Culver's typically offers a variety of tasty limited-time pub burgers on its menu throughout the year.

Sonic Drive-In All-American Sonic Smasher

Sonic's All-American Smasher debuted nationwide in January 2026 and is considered one of the best new fast food sandwiches based on its size, quality, and affordable price. One Redditor in the fast food subreddit declared it, "the best $6 burger you can buy," stating, "Everything tasted fresh, the tomatoes were good, and the beef was crispy on the edges and tender in the middle. Not quite as good as Culver's, but again, it is a few bucks cheaper."

Indeed, the Sonic Smasher is a great deal considering it consists of two smash burger patties and is loaded with fresh, classic burger toppings: American cheese, pickles, ketchup, onions, creamy mayo, lettuce, and tomato. The All-American Smasher is still available on Sonic's menu as of October 2026.

Shake Shack West Coast Burger

Shake Shack debuted its West Coast-inspired menu lineup in July 2026, featuring its West Coast Burger, which had a made-to-order, quarter-pound, 100% Angus beef patty with American cheese, honey-mustard pickles, and caramelized onions on a toasted potato bun. The secret sauce was similar to the ShackSauce but chunky and zesty, with extra pickle relish, diced onions, and a hint of spicy chile.

Inspired by California roadside burgers (and therefore similar to In-N-Out's burger style), the West Coast Burger cost around $11 and was available for a limited time only, to the dismay of some fans. One Redditor in the Shake Shack subreddit lamented, "As a West Coaster now living on the East Coast, I was very sad to see that the West Coast Burger is no longer available. It was objectively delicious; my husband who did not grow up on In n Out agrees."

Culver's Smoked Cheddar CurderBurger

Culver's original CurderBurger, introduced in 2021, began as an April Fools' Day joke poking fun at the ridiculousness of a giant cheese curd patty on a burger. Given how much Wisconsinites (myself included) cherish our cheese curds, Culver's chefs decided to see if they could turn that joke into reality. They succeeded, with the popular CurderBurger now offered seasonally September through mid-October as part of Culver's Curdtoberfest. But in 2026, the Midwest chain introduced the smoked cheddar edition, which consists of "a new gooey, golden-fried, hickory-smoked cheddar Cheese Curd crown stacked on our Deluxe ButterBurger," says its website.

According to Reddit, customers can't get enough of the new Smoked CurderBurger, with some amazed at how fast it sold out at their location. In a post in the fast food subreddit, one person wrote, "i was worried with the switch to smoked cheddar from just regular old cheddar — turns out, it was a wise move cuz it was VERY good." If at any point you start to miss Culver's CurderBurger, try hacking one with cheese curds or make Mashed's copycat CurderBurger recipe.

Burger King Game Day Pretzel Burger

In October 2026, Burger King added a new stadium-inspired menu, which includes the Game Day Pretzel Burger, a quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patty topped with American cheese, bacon, onion straws, and nacho cheese sauce on a soft pretzel bun made by SuperPretzel, a popular brand of heat-and-serve frozen soft pretzels. Expect to pay around $8.50 for just the sandwich, and closer to $13 for a combo.

BK customers generally enjoy the limited-time pretzel burger, with one Redditor's review in the Burger King subreddit stating, "8/10. Solid. I always add an extra patty. Bread was good. Not the biggest fan of the pretzel bun, but this was good. Crispy onion and the nacho cheese sauce was a nice touch." As a heads-up: Several fans suggest asking for extra cheese sauce and a double patty (versus a single) to improve the bun-to-meat ratio.

Hardee's Prime Rib Burger

Hardee's introduced The Prime Experience in April 2026, which included limited-time offerings such as the Prime Rib Breakfast Burrito and the popular Prime Rib Burger. Dubbed by the iconic burger chain as a menu item to "fuel hardworking appetites," the protein-packed burger consisted of a 100% Angus beef patty topped with slices of au jus-dipped prime rib, grilled onions, and garlic cheddar sauce on a toasted brioche bun. At around $9 for the single-patty sandwich only, it is one of the premium menu items at Hardee's and is geared toward customers looking for a deluxe, ultra-meaty, super-satisfying sandwich to fill their bellies. It is reminiscent of the popular Hardee's Prime Rib & Cheddar Angus Thickburger released in 2020, but it has an enhanced flavor with the switch to the garlic-cheddar sauce.

Many customers enjoy the addition of the prime rib, which is in general a very tender and juicy cut of meat. "Finally tried the prime rib burger at hardees today! Absolutely amazing burger & definitely recommend it," a Facebook user said.

A&W Jalapeño Queso Bacon Double Cheeseburger

For those who appreciate a little bit of heat to their cheeseburger, A&W's Jalapeño Queso Bacon Double Cheeseburger delivers. Introduced in April 2026, this bold and cheesy limited-time offer features two all-beef patties, each topped with a slice of American cheese, crispy bacon, and sliced jalapeños smothered with spicy queso. To take away some of the heat, ask for it without jalapeños and enjoy a milder spice from the creamy queso.

The jalapeño burger was a hit with A&W customers, with Redditors saying it was delicious, tasty, and filling in the hamburgers subreddit. "Most bacon I've ever had on a fast food burger. And they did not skimp on the jalapeños either," explained the original poster, who posted a picture of the cheeseburger. Commenters in an A&W Facebook post called it yummy, and one said it was now their go-to burger.

Shake Shack's Clubhouse Pimento Cheese Burger

Shake Shack's Pimento Cheese Burger debuted in March 2026 as a limited-time menu item, just in time for the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. For those unfamiliar, a pimento cheese sandwich is a traditional Southern meal that has long been served at the iconic annual golf tournament. Pimento cheese is a creamy spread made with cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, and diced pimento peppers.

Capitalizing on the popularity of this Southern favorite, Shake Shack's Clubhouse burger consists of a made-to-order, quarter-pound Angus beef patty topped with a pimento cheese spread, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce, all on a toasted potato bun. The spread might taste a bit different from traditional pimento cheese — instead of mayo and red pimento peppers, Shake Shack used its secret ShackSauce and chopped cherry peppers. One Redditor's review in the burgers subreddit said the pimento cheese was delicious, while a Facebook reviewer said it was tasty and gave it an 8.4 out of 10.

Burger King Ultimate Steakhouse Whopper

It's clear that Burger King is making a comeback by improving its burger quality, which is why this is the third BK burger in the list of best 2026 cheeseburgers. Its "Whopper by You" promotion has produced several well-liked burgers, including the Ultimate Steakhouse Whopper that was offered for a limited time at the beginning of 2026. A result of more than 600,000 submissions on the custom sandwich creation platform, the Steakhouse Whopper consisted of a 4.4-ounce flame-grilled burger patty topped with onion rings, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and peppercorn aioli on a toasted sesame seed bun.

One Redditor in the fast food subreddit gave the steakhouse burger an 8.5 out of 10 rating and said, "Taste is super good and I'll probably get another one... But that price is brutal! Almost $10 for just a burger is insane." Despite the high price tag, another happy customer responded, "I loved it. I normally avoid Burger King, but this looked good! I tried it and absolutely loved it!"
