- Kerry grew up being educated about wine and fine dining. Her Father is a Cape Wine Master who taught her the ins and outs of wine and wine appreciation. Kerry holds two Certificates In Wine from the Cape Winemakers Guild.
- In 2008, Kerry helped to create the South African food magazine Avocado, in which she wrote restaurant and wine reviews, food and beverage travel articles, and interviewed well-known South African chefs. The magazine was published in two languages.
- Kerry was a judge for a student chef competition at the International Hotel School in the late 2000s.
Experience
Kerry has been a writer and editor for two decades, starting her professional writing career at the age of 13 when her first poem was published in a national magazine. At the age of 17, she won a regional and then national essay competition that took her and her family to London. Kerry climbed the editorial ranks in the major South African publishing house, Times Media, starting as a feature writer in 2006 across three magazines in the built industry, then growing to editor of a national luxury home and decor magazine. She also held the role of editor-in-chief for the home and lifestyle supplement of the national newspaper, Sunday Times. Kerry has written articles and blogs across a broad range of topics, from food and wine to motoring, architecture, finance, cryptocurrency, and marketing.
Education
Kerry has a bachelor's and honor's degree in marketing communications, achieved at the Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg).
