Mikayla has worked as a freelance writer for nearly a decade and has written for various industries such as wedding and event planning, food, gardening, and more. Over the past few years, her passions for food and writing have come together, developing into her thriving website The Flour Handprint, writing for publications like Mashed, and managing numerous freelance clients in the food industry. She's built her business from the bottom up, using her expertise in writing to engage and educate fellow home cooks on ways to bring more flavor to their cooking by sharing well-tested recipes and techniques. In her spare time, she's writing her first fiction novel and enjoys continuing her food education through traveling and dining out.

Education

Mikayla received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in English literature, with an emphasis on creative writing, from Sonoma State University. She went on to complete her Master of Fine Arts in writing at the University of Saskatchewan in 2026, where she is currently pursuing an adjacent master's degree in literature.
