  • After earning her culinary degree, Katie went on to become a pastry chef and food stylist.
  • She was able to combine her love of food and writing by getting her degree in journalism and becoming the associate editor for a food magazine, where she also created recipes and styled food for publication.
  • As a specialty food buyer and importer, Katie had the opportunity to attend food trade shows and import amazing products from purveyors around the world.


Katie's experience as a food writer began when she worked as the associate editor of Sabroso magazine in New Mexico. She took her experience as a chef and used it to create recipes, compose informative culinary pieces, and edit articles from contributing writers. Katie has continued to create recipes and edit articles as a freelancer. You can find articles about local culinarians and her favorite food products and kitchen tools on her website.


Katie's associate degree in culinary arts coupled with her bachelor's degree in journalism has enhanced her two great loves -- writing and food.
